i have had two abdominal hernias, both easy surgeries. my gut is full of mesh

need to do some sit ups so you dont bust a gut under normal lifting.

I have had three. A double and a left inguinal. Yes they can hurt. Yes I had to have surgery to repair them. Go get checked out, Sheb. If you have an inguinal hernia and the muscle tears further, you could end up with your guts in your drawers.

how long a recovery time might there be if surgery is required? (which I presume is the only fix based on my research)

Had an abdominal, went dove hunting 3 days later, it got infected, was in hospital 4 days. Each day they come in a pull the equivilent of 2 tube socks out of an open hole in my stomach, and stuff 2 more in. No dove hunting is worth the worst pain you can imagine.

I got one while doing squats five years ago, my intestines were pushed into my scrotum. It hurt really bad.

I had dual inguinal hernia surgery about 7 years ago. No big deal. Sore as heck for next few days. I took a weeks vacation just so I could rest up. I could have gone back to work after about 3-4 days though. You be wearing sweat pants for the first week-10 days.

This is who did my surgery and did a great job. He’s also done some other minor surgeries for some people I know and they all said he did a great job.

Have it checked, could be an inflamed lymph node? Sometimes vigorous adult activity can hurt the areas.. Lol! Get ready to put the gown on backwards! Haha!

I had one done a few years ago and it was no problem. Three small incisions. The mesh felt like it was sticking me sometimes. I didn't help things by going to Lewisville on a windy day with my BIL a week after... in his Skeeter! Luckily it didn't cause a redo! Rode around with my hands the only thing touching the seat.

you know this can be fixed with a few advil and a ball point pen

Staple gun and hot glue fixes all.

I had one fixed in September. First week/10 days pretty much sucks. After a couple of weeks I could pick up my kid (20 lbs) without any pain. Riding in my truck and non elastic waistband pants were the worst. I was back near 100% by 5-6 weeks.

Make sure they do the cut/mesh job. Laproscopy fixes can fail, and if they do you're getting cut anyway, and for what I was told by someone who had experienced this, was 100 times more painful than either surgery.

I had double hernia surgery about 5 years ago , I had 14 staples right above my junk I was on the couch for a solid 2 weeks and the day that the staples were removed we were headed to Amistad , so I guess what Im saying is firt 2 weeks suck after that it's like a vacation from work cause the doc wouldn't let me go back to work for 6 weeks!

Stand barefooted on concrete, wearing nothing or boxers only.. Jump up and down. You'll feel it loosen up.

I have had one for 20+ years. Got scheduled to have it repaired but something came up and ended up never getting it done.

I mean this with all seriousness...If they ask you to pee after they have removed the cath, and you can't...TELL THEM. I did not know it, but one of my older cousins (he's 76) had a hernia taken care of 2 weeks ago. He hasn't been able to urinate without a cath since the surgery. He underwent another surgery this morning to 'create a channel' by doing something to his prostate so he could urinate without a cath. He told the nurse he had peed so he could get discharged, because he HATES hospitals. Don't be like Claude.

Maybe we can get a 2fer deal. Been checking Sweetjack, but hernia repairs don't seem to be a big player in their client group.

Just get the DIY kit from Home Depot. Some mesh tape, joint compound, and super glue will fix you right up.
