"Both have their strengths and weaknesses"
Well said to sum it up.
I'm a graphite kinda cat/sturgeon guy.
When searching out new areas, using a good graphite rod, a braid such as Tug O War, and a 4 oz no-roll sinker I can "feel" the bottom and what it's made of. Mud, sand, gravel are all detectable more so with a telegraphing graphite rod.
I can pick up my graphite and tell right away if there's a problem with a leaf or weeds on the hook that's holding four crawlers. I'm not saying this can't be done with glass, but it's an awful lot easier with graphite.
If the fight is important to the angler, it's hard to beat the lightweight graphite to let you feel the fight of the fish.
Disclaimer: We don't have blues up here, just channels, flats, lake and shovelnose sturgeon.
