I am trying to get a feel for how many people would be interested in fishing in a Summer Night Series or open tournaments. I don't have all of the details figured out yet, but there used to be some really big night tournaments, so maybe we can get something going and incorporate it into the BLT program.

We can either do it as a BLT division, under the same rules and championship qualification, or we can do Open tournaments that are seperate from the normal BLT rules. We are thinking sometime in Jun-Aug, from 10 PM to 7 AM (morning bite!).

For now, let's just go with what lakes you want to fish, which night of the week, BLT Division or Open, and entry fee you want to pay (remember, that determines how much the payout is going to be).

Example:
Cedar Creek, Saturday night, Open, $200.

Thanks everyone,
Chris

Lake Austin! Big bass, lighted docks, safe to run at night and no wake boarders once the sun is down.

+1 On Belton, $160

Also, would like to add that 29Jan @ Belton was my first BLT tournament and I think you put on a great tournament. Great equipment and TD.

I was boat 20-Team Believer.

10pm-7am on Belton, $160. No need to go any higher on the entry fees, just remember that by this time gas will probably $5 a gallon.

Belton, Austin, Cedar Creek, LBJ are all prime night lakes. Moon-phase doesn't matter to me. Entry fee $160-200.

They used to do 8-8 with a split weigh-in at 12:00 am. It was a blast.

I'd fish all three if you did a central night trail June/July/August. Especially Belton/Austin/Stillhouse (or LBJ).

You want to see some big stringers of smallmouth Belton at night, any of those months would be killer. Austin would have some big sacks too. Stillhouse could be lights out, depending on the lake level and the grass.

Good idea mixing things up BLT!

While I agree a 200.00 entry fee makes a nice payday
for some folks it will also put a strain on some in
today's economy . Don't ya think you would draw more
fishermen at a lower rate ? Just a thought....

Thats what killed the night tournaments around Belton in the past. Nobody wants to fish all night to win $200. Now $1,000+, umm yea... I'll be there.

They have club tournaments that have night tournaments all time at a lower cost entry fee if that's what you're looking for.

I would rather fish against a few for alot rather than alot for a few. Keep the entry fee the same as they are for the day tournaments.

Hubbard Creek and O H Ivie

These two lakes kick out 30 lb stringers consistently. No telling what weights would be for night tournaments. If you have a series on these two lakes I am definitely "all in"!

bonham is not big enough for a big night tourny. cedar creek, texoma, lewisville, eagle mountain, grapevine, and ray roberts all are great night lakes, and put out big fish. richland chambers (havent been there in a couple of years) still has too much timber. also most night tournaments are 8pm to 8am, or 8pm to 9am. need to keep some lakes close as to not travel all over the state just to fish night tournaments. good luck.

I like the idea. Letting people trailer will work well for night tournaments and the split weigh-in will help the fish. I like Cedar Creek, Sandlin, Tyler. Fork is fun but I get sick of that slot.

I would love to see one on bonham. CABA held an all day tourny then a night that same night. I think it would be just fine for BLT. I vote Bonham, Ray Bob, open, sat night 200 BUCKS.

Here is an idea to increase participation...what if you had a tiered entry fee? Like you can buy in to the tournament in $50 increments. So if you want to fish for $50 then you compete for the $50 pot. If you want to fish for $100 you compete for the $50 pot and the additional pot from everyone that put in $100...step it out to $150 and then $200. May be to complicated to work, but it may increase entries.

Cypress is a great night tournament lake. The fish bite very well out there after dark all summer long and it's easy to run since its wide open everywhere!
