http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOyw1PznGcsClear coat does not change the color or your lure but does reflect the UV rays and is being used in some lures. What do you think?

Maybe for surface baits and shallow running cranks. Water conditions will be a factor too. I can tell you one thing.. ill never try it lol.

I can see it now. You're paying for lures at Academy or Bass Pro Shops and the cashier says "We can make you a real good deal on the clear coat today."

Where would the UV rays be coming from at night? Ive had terrible luck with anything UV tightlines. Their plastic is not soft and the baits smell like they have been dipped in gasoline. Maybe fish like gasoline?

Nuh uh the sun only works for 12 hours. UV rays are always in contact with the Earth. Day, night, cloudy, sunny, rainy, blizzards, it doesn't matter. As long as the sun burns bright, you will always have ultraviolet rays. Ever noticed that you can get sunburned on a cloudy day? They are just less promiment at night, and like Ban-D said, reflect off the moon.

I orderer my 10" worms from www.tacklespecialty.comSteve is really a nice guy and bent over backwards to get me my order to me in time for a Mexico trip. I caught a 10 lber. even on the 10" green, which is watermelon. He has a picture for his website. It will be posted soon. All the baits that I ordered out caught the regular brands 2 to 1 (worms, lizards, brush hogs and sinkos).

There is plenty of misunderstanding about how the UV light wave actually works in the natural world. It is not visible to the human eye yet we know it exists. The strength of the UV wavelength is stronger than wavelengths that we can see. It is proven to penetrate water as deep as 40'. Tightlines UV Lures are not a magic bait. They are not however, a gimmick either. Tightlines baits can reflect the UV wavelength. What this means is very simple and has been used in saltwater application for many years. The ability to reflect the UV wavelength makes the bait visible to bass as they can see in the UV spectrum. When all light waves are filtered out the contrast or reflection of a bait begins to fade away and eventually will become invisible. As long as the UV wavelength is penetrating and you are fishing a bait that will reflect it, your bait will be visible while others will be invisible. We know that bass can see the UV lightwave. We also know that bass will feed 100% everytime by sight if possible. Do you want to make sure your bait is visible or not? The Tightlines UV bait is visible to bass under various conditions when other baits are invisible.

So this thread quickly went from a discussion on lures to UV rays at different times throughout the day. Interesting.

Can all fish see the UV spectrum? Or would it work better on some species? I don't fish for bass often, but would be interested to know what fish can see what.

It's amazing what we'll spend our money on. Reminds me of scentkiller clothing. It might work if you didn't breathe.
