It depends on how bad it is. Prilosec may or may not work for you. I have acid reflux and it laughs at Prilosec. I would start out trying it once every other day and if that doesn`t work once a day. If that doesn`t cut it go to the Dr.

Drink some milk or eat some rolaids. Don't eat too much spicy stuff.

Peppermint tea works pretty well too. I'm gonna have to try the celery trick...

A teaspoon of baking soda mixed with a cup of water can help.

Just don't ever fall in love.
Oh, you said heartburn, not heartache. Carry on.

Saltine crackers, stalk of fresh celery, and a bottle of water.

Also, once I was in a bar, and had a terrible case of heartburn. I asked the bartender if they sold Tums, she said no, but then poured me a drink, I seem to recall it being about 3/4 club soda, 1/4 Worcestershire sauce. It tasted terrible, but it worked. That was Bitters not worcestershire. It is also good for headaches and hang-overs. If you sleep on your left side, acid reflux will be reduced

What do you recommend? How do you avoid it? Tums for quick/temporary relief. The purple pill for non-prescription relief. I take omeprazole by prescription and it works pretty well for Gird. On occasion I still have to get up in the middle of the night and chew about 3 Tums....

I have been doing the Prylosec, Omeprazole and Tums thing for a couple of years now. About a week ago, I read online somewhere about the benefits of eating an apple to prevent heartburn. Nothing to lose, so I figured "what the hell". I have been eating a quarter of an apple once or twice a day since and have had no incidence of heartburn. I don't like to take drugs of any kind if I can avoid it. I happened to have an appointment with my Dr. on an unrelated issue, so I asked him about it. He said "if it works, do it". He mentioned that several of his patients drink apple cider with good results. I will give celery a shot. Thanks for the tip.

Is it heartburn or is it a heart attack?
Knowing the difference is priceless.
Some of these remedies I have seen can make you DRT if you are having a heart attack.
