Well, had no intention of buying a boat when I left the house Saturday morning to check out the Swap Meet at Mariner Sails, but found some really good prices and dang if I didn't come home having to find some more room in the garage.

My wife has a SINK (Pungo 100) and loves it ... not sure if her SOT will hardly ever get used again (she's a paddler and rarely gets in the mood for fishing). Anyway, she has been after me to get one too and she actually pushed me hard to get this one Saturday. Needless to say, we came home with a new Pungo 120.

Had planned on getting her wet yesterday, but life got in the way. If I get home in time, gonna try to head to Marshall Creek and paddle for an hour or so this afternoon after work. I have to admit, after sitting in her this weekend, with the huge cockpit this boat has, it might actually make a decent fishing platform. I already have some ideas for some minimal rigging.

As always, will take a rod with me when I go out and with any luck and I can her both wet and slimed.

Quite a crowd while I was there ... great turnout for a first time event. Lookers outnumbered sellers of course. I didn't count, but I'm guessing 10 - 15 people set up in the parking lot selling. Were a lot of good buys inside the store and I lots of people looking at yaks. I didn't find anything to buy outside, but if I had been in the market for a new SOT, there were a couple of "temptations" there at very good prices.

MS has pics on their Facebook page if you want a better idea of the day. According to Mike at MS, tentative plans are to have another one this summer.

Did get a chance to try out the new yak yesterday afternoon. Got to the lake later than I had planned/hoped, but was determined. Put in at Marshall Creek Park and, wow, after the rains last week, the water level is WAY up. Also, even almost a week, the water is still very murky/muddy.

Due to the lateness of my arrival, I decided to leave my fishing gear in the truck and just used the time I had to get a feel for the yak. Spent about an hour on the water, went downstream from the boat launch and then back.

Amazing how much faster and how much better this boat tracks as opposed to my SOT. WS's Phase 3 seating is also impressive with all the options you have for adjustment. It was quite windy while we were out there, but when heading back to the boat ramp to take out ... the even against the current and against the wind, the boat was unfazed and super quick.

When we were loading, I talked to a couple of guys loading their boat and sounds like the fishing had been really slow so not too disappointed that I didn't get a chance to throw a line while I was out. Hopefully soon!
