I guess I don't get it. I've coached little league sports for the last several years, and I guess I don't get it when I interact with a kids parents and they smell like they just left a party with Cheech & Chong. Oh they try and cover it with some of kind of spray or gum, but it is easy to spot when they try and form an articulate sentence when talking about their kids performance.

I figured most people gave that stuff up in the their early 20's and after they got married and had families, but it still surprises me when I see them stoned at Little Johnny's Basketball game, or listen to them talking about the parties and others who were there, etc.

My BIL & his wife still get high, later 30's

but they do live in Austin, so that explains a lot

it would shock and amaze you the number of adults who smoke.

I can count at least 20 people that I know over 40 that do it regularly.

in high school my buddy's dad walked in from work, went in the kitchen, mumbled something about why the hell dinner wasn't ready, grabbed a half gallon of blue bell, went and locked himself in his office for the rest of the evening. he was stoned as i ever have seen. he's in the upper tax bracket too.

I don't have much firsthand experience, but when you see on tv where they confiscate tons of marijuana at a time and that is only a small percentage of what succesfully makes it into the country, then you have to belive our appetite for the weed is as strong as ever mabey even moreso.JMO

I know 15-20 people aging from 24-30 that do it steady once a week if not way more

I know a lot of people that do, but most of them don't have young children, and only do it at the privacy of their home on weekends.

IMO, it is quite inappropriate to be stoned at your kid's little league practice

A lot of this new medical weed is cultivated and bred in a way that takes a lot of the "DUHHH" out of the buzz that makes people retarded, yet gives the medicinal effect that patients need. You would be amazed what a lot of this stuff can really help. The patient doesn't even have to smoke it to get the effect. The sad thing is, most of the people that are trying to get it legalized don't really need it. They just want to smoke it till their eyes bleed.

I know guys that are very well off in their sixties who smoke pot.I smoked it once but I didn't inhale.

I do know a couple of 60+ that smoke it on a regular basis. They are upstanding people that you would never guess smoke pot.

Thats cause with POT you dont have that nasty hang over in the morning. I have never heard of anyone high on POT Killing people but maybe sneaking a Twinky every now and then,

most I know do both and then some. i was never a big fan of the sticky icky. i went through a phase but never really honed my craft. stuff burns my throat. not to worry, there were plenty of other things to fill the void.

Crazy..... Just did not think it was that prevalent anymore, especially after people had matured and settled down.

Wife and I went out to dinner with a couple a while back and they invited us to a party, and specifically mentioned that people will think we are "NARC'S" if we are there and not partaking in the festivities. I mentioned that I was not a NARC .. but we would not be attending if it involved drugs or illegal activities. Nice people and their kids are great, but blew my mind people still partied like they were still 20's.

There are lots of folks out there that you would never suspect of smoking, but they do. LOTS of people smoke. As i got older, i was amazed at the number of my childhood friends' parents that smoke. It almost seems like there is more that do smoke than dont smoke.

I don't smoke, simply because its illegal. I've tried it, and would do it if was legal. It's nice to enjoy the feeling, and not have a hangover.

I am saying that POT has been around for as long as man or close to it. They made it illegal when that Govt found out they couldnt tax it or contol the manufacturing of it. I am not saying to make it a crime, but make the penilty for someone that smokes for pleasure a lot less (decriminalize)than someone dealing it. The ones that smoke for recreatonal use dont go out and committ crimes, such as killing people, driving drunk, robbing business. Like what was mentioned on a nother post, You would be surprised at how many old stoners are out there. They have learned to use it wisely.

Now to answer your question - "I guess your a proponant of the POT?", my answer is,to each his own, live their life as they see fit, as long as they are not hurting anyone, let em be. Besides, Stoners are to busy eatin munchies to do much else - lol

Here's the deal. Pot is illegal and alcohol isn't. That's it. It is irresponsible to be a parent and smoke weed. I don't care if you do it in the luxury of your home or not, you have illegal drugs in your home. But do what you will.

Very true ... and will stay this way because of the $$$$ ... and groups as diverse as alcohol companies, those in the drug trade, and religous organizations all fighting to keep that status quo. Politics do make strange bedfellows.

Excellent point TG. The OP on this thread was posting about parents being stoned around their kids. To me, there is no difference in smoking pot or drinking around the kids, even in the privacy of their home.

You see people on here bragging about drinking at home and interacting with their kids. That is something to be proud of. I suspect that just as many, if not more, are also partaking in other substances.

My parents never drank at home.

Same here but you can add in people that drink till they are stupid. I have several friends that I no longer hang with because of their drinking.

My uncle that passed away at the first of the year was in his mid 60's and still blazed daily. He was not shy about it nor did he care who knew. When he was younger he did not do it around his kids but after they left you can bet he had no qualms about it...

It not just pot. Alcohol can be an issue too. One of the Moms on my son's soccer team consistently shows up late to practice and games with a big Sonic cup. It became pretty obvious to most of the parents at one of the early morning games what she was doing. I thought she was an isolated case but apparently its is pretty common among soccer moms. I feel sorry for her son.

I'm 47 and maybe I just live in a bubble like mentioned, and I thought I did not know anybody that smoked pot, but I guess more than not... I just am not aware that they do.

I also gave up drinking about 5 years ago, as felt it really did not have any place in my life and was detrimental to the example I was trying to set for my children. While I am not niave enough that it will keep kids from doing that they want when they get older, peer pressure, etc..., I hope that it will dissuade them from making poor choices later. Whether it be drugs, alcohol, risky behavior, etc.

Ironic topic - as I drove into work this morning I passed not 1 but 2 different cars with the occupant(s) blazing up.

To each is own, IMO. However, I'd rather be around a pot head than a drunk most times. I know a couple funny drunks so I don't mind them.

I do think it is funny how so many on here scoff at marijuana as your posting pics of your whiskey, scotch, etc hoping to impress others that your some sophisticated adult who is classy and sips hard lquor.

I am surprised it is as prevalent today. We just don't associate with the likes of people that would have the tendency to smoke. But nothing against them whatsoever!!

Im not saying the affects of weed are worse than drinking. Yes drinking and driving are very irresponsible and do not condone that for anyone. Also the lady that shows up to practice with the sonic cup of booze is horrible too. All Im saying is that weed is illegal and the more someone has it in their house the more there is a risk of something going bad. For instance, do you really think your kids don't know you have it if you smoke it in your house. Some parents think their kids are oblivious or ignorant to stuff but that is def not the case.
