I hit a stump today and did some damage to the bottom of the hull. . What's the best way to go about repair? Skeeter or local dealer? Does insurance cover it after deductible? Appreciate any advice.

Yes insurance may cover it, Take it to a couple of fiberglass shops and get estimates.

If it is enuff to file a claim, Then file a claim, get a check and then shop fiberglass shops

Some places like Classic Fiberglass are actually Skeeter authorized fiberglass repair centers. They send them warranty work. If you were closer I would say Classic hands down is a great place but since you are in SA maybe call Skeeter and get a local authorized repair center they use.

I was under the impression that because Skeeter Hulls are made out of composite material there is a lifetime warranty on them? Not sure but you might check into thet and save some bucks. I have full coverage insurance on mine.

the lifetime warranty does not cover impact damage like hitting something that is what insurance is for.

Use Steven Robichauz in Seguin right off of I10, lots of dealers in SA sub their work and that is who they use and you will not have to pay the markup that the dealers put on it.

His number is 830-660-5410

+1,000

Agree, agree, agree...great guy, great prices and great work. He fixed my Skeeter last year after I got pushed into a rock by a ski boat wake on canyon lake.

Call your insurance agent to start the claim process. Ask them who they recommend to repair the boat. That way they can go after them if they do a Chitty job!

I hit one and my insurance paid everything but I took it to a skeeter authorized repair shop. If you paid a good sum of money for your rig make it right and carry it to a skeeter authorized repair shop. They will be able to get the paint and gelcoat colors you need to make your boat right again.

He does good work and has fixed my Skeeter a couple of times. He is the "go to" guy in this area.

RedRanger suggest you buy a Ranger (when u get a real Job) and those stress cracks and hull damage will be a thing of the past....

Thanks for the help guys. I have a meeting tomorrow with a estimator from my insurance company. I plan on taking it out to Robicheau next week. I've heard he will stand up to insurance companies
Hopefully get back on the water ASAP!

Had an old skeeter hull. 20 ft. Bout a 91-93 model. Pulled it off the trailer to throw it on the burn pile. (boat was no good and we were cleaning up). Anyway, pulled it off the trailer with a backhoe. Figured I'd punch a few holes in it for fun. Flipped it over and went to work. Ford 555 backhoe would not punch a hole in the bottom. Not even with the teeth from the bucket. Before I was done, I had raised the bucket as high as it would go, smashed as hard as it could and even raised the rear tires of the backhoe off the ground. Of course it looked horrible but it would hold water out no Problem. I never thought any fiberglass boat would be that strong.
