Went to start my boat at the boat ramp today and it cranked a couple of times then all my power just went out, i looked back at the battery and noticed the red leads had melted and the wing nut was pretty darn hot, i let it sit awhile to cool off then rasied my motor up and went home and un hooked everything from my battery, now my question is it the battery itself or did something else cause the wires to melt? The only thing I can think of is i went to turn the humminbird on and thats when i lost power, and i did run the motor at home for 10 mins before i went to the lake and wires where fine......any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

You would think it would have tripped a breaker... I would take it to a shop before you ruin something expensive. Sounds like a short...

Your battery connection was either loose or corroded.
