Going to be in San Antonio mid February for an cheerleaders competition with my little girl. I'm staying downtown. Anyone know of a lake nearby. Maybe 30min away are so. I will be bank fishing. Mother nature said the boat must stay home.

Loc: Rowlett Texas by way of Victor...
Calaveras & Brauning are both less than 30 mins and when I lived there people fished from the bank all the time.

You might look into fishing the Guadelupe river right below Canyon Lake.

It's around 30 miles north of SA and there are several river crossings and camps along river road, and rainbow trout stockings are taking place this time of year.

Ultra light spinning tackle and small spinners or jigs, and if your into fly fishing that can be the ultimate way to go.

You would probably have better luck than at Calaveras or Braunig at this time of year.

If you go to Gruene just off 306 just outside of New Braunfels heading toward Canyon lake, stop at the Grueneoutfitters, they have guides that fish the river every day and can tell you where the trout are biting and what to catch them on.

They have all the flies and tackle that you might need also.
