I grew up fishing Cedar Creek. Havent been out there in years though. I know its been super low but did the recent rain have much of an impact? Last i heard the only place to really put in was Log Cabin. I'd love to get back out there soon

I'm proud of my fishing skills. Been out the last 2 weekends preparing for Bass Champs. I have zeroed each time, nothing left in my bag to try, maybe an empty hook for me will work. Tough out there especially this past weekend with the wind blowing. Good Luck

Cedar Creek is about 15-20 minutes up the road from me. I have fished it 3 times...caught 1 sandbass.

I would rather drive to Fork or Athens than fish that lake.

Its been tough for sure ... I've only been catching 2-5 a day... fishing brush (the little that is in the water still) off some docks on the west side of the lake out towards the main lake. Hard to get there when the winds blowing hard or maybe I couldve had better days! Ive been putting in at Log Cabin.. not sure if anything else is open.

That was an odd wind this weekend coming out of the east. Most coves run east/west, west/east so there was no were to hide. Was on the main lake, but didn't feel like fighting it. 2-5 a day is good.

If the docks had water, I could see it, but not sure what they are holding on. I have found few rock, no trees and little brush piles. Think I will start at the north end with a fluke and drag it to the dam

I went last week to pre fish for Champs... but after 3 days of fishing and only 7 fish and getting beat to death I AM NOT going to fish it haha... Im going to go to Fork instead and catch some hawgs!!
If you go MRABBE try the West side of the lake and Spring creek. Thats where I caught mine. 4 on the west side on carolina rigs off of points and 3 flipping jigs in Spring. Hope this helps. (I put in at Log Cabin also)

I was told by an old man (that has done well on Cedar Creek in Champs)that Cedar Creek seperates the fisherman from lure chunkers.

rolfmao this is a direct quote from the basschamps website from cedar creek in 2007...

"Robby Rose weighed in a 5 fish limit of 17.92 pounds to win the tournament. Considering that this was but one of only two limits brought in, he obviously had some tricks up his sleeve."

If you have some good brushpiles on yer GPS, you might give it a try.

If you're going to try and pitch worms and cranks around brushy docks, you better go somewhere else this weekend!

Real time data shows the lake to be 4.32 ft low and still slooowly rising from runoff.

I live at Cedar Creek as well and I'd say 4 feet low was accurate. You can check with Chuck Rollins at BigCrappie.com about which ramps are open if you want to fish it. If I want to fish for bass I go to Purtis Creek State Park but I am usually a catfisherman which is perfect for Cedar Creek which also has a good Hybrid Striper and Sandbass population. I also agree that King's Creek would be a great place to fish but I don't know where you could launch to get there. I fish out of a kayak so I can pretty much go anywhere and launch.

If the lake wasn't so low, I'd say slow-roll a spinnerbait around docks and grass in the backs of creeks... but you guys don't have alot of that up there right now.

You could also probably pick up a limit on structure around the dam throwing a rig, there's a few road beds and some house foundations out there. I've done decent doing that when the water was low in February. Crankbaits around bridge rip rap running across major creeks on the lower end can be good too. the fish will stage there before moving back there to spawn.

That year that it was real tough the water had come up and was muddy and 49 degrees. We fished a spinnerbait and jig in a single creek pretty much all day. The fish moved up and started eating once the temp hit about 52.

Those are the three patterns I would work. Good luck fellas!

You guys don't know your lakes very well then. There was grass in several places in that lake before the low water killed it. It wasn't easy to find, but it was there. When you found it, it always held fish.

sarcastic

You should get out more.

Watch some of the older BassChamps DVD's, the individual championship on Cedar Creek is one of the episodes that showed some areas that had grass. I think the guy ended up winning it.

I really like fishing CC..but there is one thing I have learned...if the water is cold take your fishing else where...you really have to know the lake to do good in these conditions...

Exactly if it wasnt easy to find then there wasnt much or enough to say the lake had much if any in it.
