Me and a buddy tied this today. Well, actually he did most of it. But, it was the first tarpon fly either of us had done. Came out pretty good!

Thats a good looking Toad, real clean.

I've tied up three of them now. I like big flies, they are easier on my eyes when I'm tying.

Fedora,
What kind of material are you using for the head of the fly? We used yarn on ours caus its all we had. But, I certainly like the look of yours!

I just use the rug yarn, when I went and bought it, they didn't have any fancy colors other than the purple.

I figure eight the pieces on there, then trim to a basic shape, then go through with my bodkin and pick the twists out. After that I brush out the yarn even further with a velcro brush I made with stick on velcro and a round popsicle stick. This adds to the "body". I do go back and trim any stragglers after all that that make it look funny to me (I.e. OCD).
