I love too spool my catfish reels with that stuff , but can
no longer find it up here in Dallas..Do any of you know where
I might find some or know if it's even made any more ?
If so maybe you know a store that might ship me some .
Would appreciate any info. you might have....Thanks

Geez, yes, I remember it well. It was on my grandfather's ( and dad's) Penn 109. Every time I pick up my new Penn 209, I think about it. Thanks for the memories.

Dang Frog , Kinda got me feeling my age now , ( haha ).
But that is exactly how I was introduced to the line
and believe it or not on the same reel , fishing the salt water
flats on the back side of the Corpus Christi Bay . If I remember right there was a old grain silo and a draw-bridge near by
where we were fishing at....
Talk about the memories come flooding back ...

Yeah, you can still get braided dacron, but there's fewer manufacturers making it for recreational use nowadays, as the interest has shifted to superbraid lines.

Try Bass Pros 'Offshore Angler Magibraid'.

Some of my earliest fishing memories were of going out into the Seattle bay area in our dads little fishing boat, using reels loaded with dacron braid. We could abuse that stuff and it wouldn't wear out & break.

That sounds like the right stuff to me .
Never had to worry about the sun getting to it .
No worry over line twist or line memory .
Will have to remember the term (dacron) think
now I've been asking for the wrong thing ...
Thanks Zeek the Greek

My experience with that line was that if you got a backlash, it would take you three hours to unsnarl. Other than that, it was some tough line.

Yeppers, Seaking, I remember my grandmother taking me to the T-heads in Corpus and letting me use her old baitcaster with that line before I was in first grade.

Yes Sir Mr. Frog , That old Penn & a solid fiberglass rod
that was as big around as a broom handle . I too use to fish
the t-heads there in corpus as I was born there . Wonder if
they still let people fish on them ,man I haven't been down there
in years.. Also use to fish Bob Hall Pier ,
not even sure if that is still there , left from there in the late 60ies...

Bob Hall is still there. I fished there too, as a child in the late 50s and early 60s. That's back in the days when dad would tie rope to the car, and pull us at the water's edge on a skim board....or any flat piece of wood. You could drive ANYWHERE along the beach back then. I still have a couple of those old broom handle rods too.
Where you there when hurricane Carla hit in 61 ? ( maybe 62)

Yep, Was still there when Carla hit , Those were the days
when we just didn't up and leave because a little blow would
show up in the Gulf . LOL . But I think it got bad enough
to scare the old man . I remember him tieing us all together
with rope. Ha , guess if one went we all went . We also
got a palm tree though the living room wall and also took
out the roof of the old wood frame house we lived in .
By the sound of it you must be just a little older than me.

Basspro and Cabelas both sale dacron line. It is in the fly fishing section. Us fly fishermen use it for backing. I am not sure how much you are looking for but it usually sells in 150yd, 300yd, and 600yds spools. Good luck hope this helps.

Bob Hall is still there, it was recently added onto last year. While they were adding on to it the new dropped 6" or 8" in some places. I am sure you can find some pics of it on the callertimes.com.

I'm older than dirt....lol !
My kids say that I invented dirt. whip

I remember that they had just built Collier Municipal Pool right before Carla hit. We lived across the street from that park back then, although I'm sure the neighborhood is not a place I'd want to live now days...chuckle. It too was a frame house as I recall. We had a huge picture window in the living room but had boarded it up, thankfully. It survived. No real damage as I recall, except for a few tree limbs, but I was a kid and that was a long time ago. We were more concerned with the Greek Orthodox church where my grandfather was the priest.
