Just bought a boat with a 2004 175HP 2-stroke Vmax HPDI. Do you any recommendations on what type of oil I should use?

i have the exact same motor but is 200hp. i haven't refilled the oil reservoir yet, but the guy i bought it from said he used Kawasaki 2 cycle oil. said he used it on motorcycles and he trusted there oil. once its done though, im running Yamalube in mine.

FYI. 2 cycle is not the same oil as 2 stroke. Two cycle oil is for your chainsaw. You put 2 cycle chainsaw oil in your outboard and you may be buying a new powerhead. Not same-same.

pennzoil full synthetic is all I run now, it does make the engine run somewhat better and smokes much less. this is in an 82 johnson 175

YamaLube TCW-2 oil is the best. Don't use a 2 stroke oil that isn't designated for water cooled motors!!!
