Guess I'll share this here too. This all happened last saturday. Once I got the anchor trolleys mounted the wife and I headed out to try the new boat. Enjoy!

Well today was a sleep in, hang with the wife kinda day. Had lots of things to get done, including running to San Marcos to pick up the Cuda. [smilie=banana.gif] Got home around 2pm with the yak and began doing some minor rigging. Still trying to decide on where and how to mount the FF though. After a couple hours of working on it, the wife insisted we go try it out. So we loaded up, grabbed two rods and a couple tackle boxes as I wanted to get a feel for fishing out of the new yak before tomorrow. I started out just casting anywhere with no rime or reason. Didnt expect to get a thing, just getting a feel for using the rudder, paddling, standing, etc. Then it hit me. New kayak, i cant leave with a skunk, thats gotta be bad luck. I just drifted for a bit casting into some hydrilla and finally got hit. First fish in the new boat, a fiesty 16".

I keep drifting across the lake using the rudder to control my direction. Man why did I never get a rudder before? I head over to a point but with no FF I cant tell where the point extends to so i use a heavy bait to try and feel the bottom. Fourth cast in and WHAM!! I see my line go from the 12 o' clock position across to the 3 o'clock position. I catch up to her and unleash the fury. [smilie=smileyhooked.gif] A few seconds later she surfaces and shakes her head with all she's got, trying to throw the bait. GOODNIGHT MOMMA!!! I immediately freak and begin telling her to quit jumping. She listened but made a run straight for me and under the kayak, then back to the other. She wore out pretty fast, I reach over and lip her with a kung fu mega death grip. She wasnt getting away now, in fact I probably could of made a few diamonds if I would have had a chunk of coal in my fist instead. I let out a yell that would put Iaconelli to shame, measure her and then call my wife to meet me by the bank to get some pics. I've lost at least 3 fish this same size or possibly bigger from here over the summer. Not this time, sweet victory, finally!!

The downside, since I didnt really think i would catch anything I left my scale at home. Anyone have any guesses as to the weight? I say around 6lbs. She had a full belly maybe getting ready to spawn soon? 2012 is starting out very good for me, I hope it continues for KATS. Also I'll write up a review of the Cuda in a week or two once I get some time with it.

Also heres a pic with my hand out of the way. You can see just how fat she was. A few have said she'd go 7lbs but I honestly have no idea. All I know is shes the biggest bass I ever landed.
