Looks like the run in Indy will be over in a couple of months. Wonder if he retires or signs somewhere else.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=dw-wetzel_jim_irsay_colts_peyton_manning_rob_lowe012612

I kind of hope he retires. Not that I don't want him to play again, but I like the idea of a class player and guy like him finishing his career with one team. Also, I wonder if he should really play again with a recent neck injury.

Man, I think the whole situation for him sucks. He's been one of the best for years and its not ending in the way he deserves.

I hope he goes somewhere and dominates, just not in the NFC East.

I am actually more interested in the link on that story about Wes Welker being engaged to an Mrs Hooters!

I know but you got to look at it from the owners stand point. 2 or 3 neck surgeries in 2 yrs and having to pay him 28mil, not knowing if he is gonna be the same or close to the same qb? I just hope they handle the situation with class becasue they have been very good for the league for a while.

Oh I agree, I doubt I would be able to justify keeping him if I was their owner. I would draft Luck and get on with the next chapter. I just don't think it can go over well. Hopefully, it is all handled with class.

from what i hear, his neck will be ok. they are just unsure how strong his neck will be. its not like he is going to be constantly hit. i would keep Peyton as starter and draft Luck too. that way Peyton can retire like he wants and they will have primed Luck to hit the ground running.

They should trade him to the 49ers for as many picks as they can get. What a great fit Peyton would be in that town! It's a horrible division so he'd be going to the playoffs every year. They have a killer defense a good running game. He'd never have to worry about playing in the snow, and there are 2 dome teams in his division.

They would probably need a WR because Crabtree, for whatever reason, is about 10% of the receiver he was as a Red Raider. But other than that, it's a great fit. Btw, Reggie Wayne is a free agent this summer too. Manning and Wayne to the 49ers and they would easily be the favorite in the NFC.

For one of the top 5 QBs this game has ever seen, they should do it to Alex. He was awful in that game against the Giants. And if he would have just played an average Alex Smith game, they would have won.

If they don't want to do it, that's fine. But they won't win a SB with Alex Smith. This league has become 95% about the QB and Alex Smith isn't even in the top half of the league. That defense is way too good to waste with Alex Smith at QB.

From what I've heard and read alot of doctors that didn't do the surgury think he should walk away and that for the surgury he had it will take atleast another yr for him to heal properly. Irsay will cut him and not pay him $28mil, draft Andrew Luck and move on. I think Peyton will retire a Colt.

Agreed, but that game wouldn't have been close enough to lose if they'd had Peyton.

I hope he doesn't retire a Colt this year. He's one of the most special athletes of this generation and I don't want his time on the field to be over.

patriot07-I agree he is a special player, I hope he doesn't retire but those Mannings are pretty smart guys and I don't think he would take a chance if he wasn't ready or if was gonna take another yr to be healthy. But I can think of a bunch of teams that would park a Brinks turck loaded with money for him to come play.

If the Colts draft Luck does anyone other than me hope he fails? I really think it's unfair for the Colt's to get a star QB right after Peyton is gone. The Colts should be like the Cowboys, still looking for the next star QB after Troy.... (Yes I'm am no fan of the Romo)

Luck is still unproven. Don't forget Ryan Leaf was a can't miss prospect.

The Colts have been getting rid of everyone in the organization who might raise a stink if Manning were cut. Coach, GM, etc. The writing is on the wall. He won't be there by June 1st, or whenever that bonus kicks in.

The whole Peyton thing is a beating. So many act like the Colts owe him something. They paid the man well for a lot of years. Those checks were cashed just fine. They treated him like a king and his time in Indy is about over. Instead of taking the graceful way out and move on to another team that will again pay him like a king he is starting to bitch and whine about the Colts.

Thats what I was thinking. Guy has Ca-zillion of dollars just for playing the game? Should be happy to be walking and all he can do is Bi-atch?

I hope he retires a COLT and WALKS away on his own two feet rather than keep playing and risk getting CARRIED off the field never to walk again.
