Was driving from the metro mess down to Lindale this afternoon and saw 9 Highway Patrol cars between Canton and Van, 4 of them had vehicles pulled over, 2 looks like they had just released a vehicle, lights still on, and 3 were sitting beside the road waiting for someone to drive by a little to fast.

I actually saw several LE all the way from GP to Lindale!

Yes it is...and Skeeter, they were running that 'trap' on the 12th too...You'd think they'd have enough money by now.

I don't think any governmental agency has ever found "enough."

I used to run that stretch twice a week. Once on Friday and back on Tuesday or Monday night. Did it for 3 years. They'd hit it hard for a few days, then vanish. Then about the time drivers became comfortable again, they'd be back. I got stopped once at 11PM doing 77 in a 65. I was very pleasant to him, knowing I was speeding. When he asked where I'd been, I told him I was visiting my fiance, a retired Dallas arson investigator now living in Gun Barrel City. He told me to slow it down and gave me a warning. Very lucky that night.

And you didn't get a ticket, either.

No I didnt. But he was a nice guy. Not all are so nice. Some try to pull that "stern" act with me. I usually just grin and let it go.
I'm sure if it was any of the others, they'd have ticketed me. I can pull off a real "innocent" look when I have to. Dont do it often, but hey....when it comes to money, there's not a whole lot I wont try.

If you are going to La. watch Wascom that city kitty likes to sit out there and give tickets. He gave me one a couple of years ago for 6mph over and since it was my birthday he wished me a happy birthday when he handed me the ticket. I run through there 5 under now but he sure gets a bunch.

Every time we go to Kilgore I-20 is full of DPS. I bet we pass at least 10 every trip.

Yep. He wrote me a ticket in 2000 for going 83...If he'd caught me a few miles earlier, I'd have been worse off. grin

The last time a state trooper pulled me over for speeding I got a warning.

I was doing 38 in a 30 .... not in a school zone. Im still not sure how he caught up with me.

Yep he caught me a few years ago at about 10 pm! I was speeding but he wanted me tobe all happy about getting a ticket, he tried to wish me a good day and I just told him to give me the ticket and let me be on my way!

That is probably a big source of that towns revenue!

I was making the drive from Mt. Pleasant into DFW on I-30 once and came up on a huge line of cars and trucks doing 60mph. I was able to work my way to the front and the cause was a state trooper in the left lane doing 60mph and playing on his laptop.

I called 9-1-1 to report a distracted driver and the dispatcher, she was very excited to have someone call into report this. However she nearly choked when I described the vehicle as "A department of public safety SUV unit number XXXXXXX with the driver operating a laptop while driving" She asked me to hold and then informed me he agreed to exit to the service road. The line of cars was over a mile in length at that point.

I pass Troopers on 45 all the time driving slow and trolling. It's the folks who are afraid to pass them that they're looking for! Oh, and another speed trap for those of you that drive between Dallas and Houston on 45. We all know that you run a gauntlet of county and city guys from just south of downtown D, all the way past Corsicana. Then it's all Troopers, except between Buffalo and Centerville. The Centerville feller has a new black charger and he's already paid for it many times over, but he's still getting more!

Yep!
I make that trip on 45 from Dallas to Centerville a couple of times every single month.
Garret, Ferris, Palmer, and Hutchins are almost always 'hot'!
The worst are the Dallas Sheriff's who work that short stretch just south of downtown D to I-20, they all use laser! jack
