Anywhere along 198 a guy can catch some crappie for supper? Especially at the first 2 bridges heading north from Malakoff...

When the fish move shallow...I have done well fishing the rocks on the northern most 198 bridge, south east side. I was in a boat but only about 15 foot off the rocks, slowly working a jig with a 9-10' pole down the entire length of the rip rap and back again to the bridge and would usually pick up enough fish in a couple of hours to make for a good morning. Once the sun got up on the rocks good...I would move over to the other side that was still shady and do the same thing. I would think that with a 9-10 foot rod you could do the same thing from the rocks...just make sure you wear some snake boots or snake gaiters...lots of hidey holes for those slitherin' s.o.b's to hide and while most would probably be banded water snakes...I wouldn't take any chances at all!

You might have a hard time catching them right now that shallow but in about a month or two there's usually people lining the banks fishing on the weekends. If the lake was full you might could cast to the first bridge colum and catch some but we are still too low for it to hold fish there this time of year.
Good luck

I remember the good ol days when John and Joyce ran the old marina on 198.I remember Chuck waiting on some of his clients to show up at marina.I would lauch there but I knew so many people who fished there and on the rocks that i would have a full boat before I reached the bridge.
