To be slaughtered by people with cast nets and who keep every fish they catch no matter what species or size. I quit going to RC because it made me sick to see what too many folks get away with. The only time I saw a game warden was at the Miller Bridge, he didn't go more than 30 ft off the road to check license. Didn't mean to play down the fact that we needed rain and thank God we are getting a lot but RC brings up bad images to me.

I hear ya SteveStrasemeir. It is up to us as legitimate sportsman to help the game warden when we see illegal activity like that. I have personally seen it my self down there while fishing. The cast net and the bucket trick just hacks me off.

If you see it happen record the plate numbers and description of the perps. The GW will want this info if he can get it.

Nothing like a relaxing day along the creek with beer cans-boxes,plastic bags,broke foam coolers, and other misc TRASH! Enjoy the sand bass run and please keep way more than your legal limit! If ya get a chance please string a gill net across the creek too

Been there a few times and it does always seem to be everyone's dumping ground. That's a shame, as the fishing CAN be great if your not surrounded by idiots and cheaters.

When do you guys expect the run to start this year? I live in Tarrant county now, but would love to make a day trip over there.

SuperDuck, its bad but not that bad the last time I was out there with TarponFly last March. There are folks who litter there but I would bet the majority of the trash you see clinging on the sides of the creek, those are from up stream. I mean WAY up stream. One TFFer has in his signature "We all live down stream" and that signature always makes me think if Rowlett Creek!!!

I fished that creek since I relocated to DFW but not a whole lot the past 5-6 years cuz I own a boat and let the bank anglers have their fun! I am less than 10 minutes from RC

I live within walking distance to hell hole and I gave up fighting the trash (several meanings) that accumulates down there. Just learned to breath deep and let it go. I get even by out fishing everyone around me

When can we start bashing the gun range this year...

2 years ago I caught a 7lb bass by flipping a basket ball goal and back board near the mouth of RC. LOL

I just hope Cow Creek got similar runoff, then I will have ALL those fat sandies to myself(as i do EVERY yr), and life will be total bliss! It was "walk down the middle of the channel low" last week before the rains.

That makes me feel a lot better. I was really starting to worry about how low the lakes were getting.

I love the sandie run. Catching magnum sandbass in 2-3 ft of water. Or in late March catching huge Hybrids in 3 ft or less of water, with a fly rod, is fun.....

Thanks for the post TarponFly! I'm not as close as fishenrod but I'm only half a mile away and cross it everyday to and from work, except that day on the way home, when Miller was closed.

That is a prayer answered if I've ever seen one!! The fishing gods didn't let us down! Or at least mother nature didn't.

I want to pull in a hybrid on a fly rod this year.
