My food disposal quit disposin. The motor runs, but the blades don't. I checked the button and that didn't do anything, anyone have any ideas??? I cleaned out everything that I could feel inside the disposal too.
There is a hole on the bottom that an Allen wrench fits in to manually move it. However if the motor is running and the blades are not thats not going to do you much good. If its just making a humming noise there might be something stuck but that should cause it to trip the breaker. Nut holding the flywheel might be loose or it could just be rusted out. Replacing one of these things is a simple job just get at least a 1/2 hp model. I got a 3/4 hp when I had to replace ours and the wife has not been able to choke it yet.

Thanks guys, I got it running. Apparently, #2 steel shot doesn't work very well in a disposal. I grabbed a 1/4 in allen wrench and moved the flywheel around and back and forth until it freed up.
