I'm planning on heading down to Somerville/Yegua Saturday morning to see if I can pick up some sand bass on the fly in my kayak. I'm thinking about putting in at Hermann's Bottom or somewhere on the upper end of the lake and checking for staging fish. I'm going to call around and see if there's any water in Jerdelle Creek as well. I've got a buddy that works at Nails Creek State Park, so I'm hoping he'll be able to tell me how the water levels are. Long story short, if anybody wants to join, just shoot me a p.m.

Jerdelle Creek was still dry. I followed it out to where the channel meets the lake and there's another 150 yards of dry ground out there.

With the water that is coming into the lake the fish should be moving up to Birch creek park and over to Pecan park staging in the deeper areas. We need to all get together and hit the upper lake in our kayaks and test the waters!

I'm game for that! I'll be out there this Saturday, weather and work willing.

I'm working on a plan with the State park to create some sort of regular gathering of hunters and fisherman to promote use of the park, make contacts and learn from one another. Responsible sportsmanship and stewardship of the lake and land is the ultimate goal.

Wonder if it caught any of the monsoon we had here in B/CS last night. I thought about putting the yak out in the front yard!!!

From what I can tell the Yegua is gonna flood BIG TIME! So we just might get that creek spawn going yet! How much rain did Rockdale, Lexington, and Giddings get?
