I just wanted to get a response of all who have caught a double digit bass, or several and the bait you caught it on.

I am just wanting to see what baits tend to get the bigger ones.

My personal best is 9.04, and it came off a fat free shad, and not even the biggest one...the 12-14' runner.

anyways, if you wouldnt mind sharing, I would appreciate it.

thanks

Usually the bait you have tied on and get it in front of them! Lol

I have kept a lot of records and have caught them on just about everything. Of course the baits that I favor (normally deep water stuff) have caught the most but thats also what I have thrown the most.

I have caught 3 ten's. 2 on a HAWG CRAW & 1 on a 10" POWER WORM. I think u really increase your odds throwing a big bait. I am headed falcon for 10 days Sunday. My bucket list is now a teenager.

I agree with JR, I have caught a DD on big Worms C-Rigged, a Jig, deep crankbait, and a spinnerbait. When you put something in front of a DD fish thats willing to bite you'll catch em on whatever your throwing at the time.

Hard to find good size mice but that's my DD bait, so this spring we'll be using pomeranian puppies. They paddle hard and really get the attention of the big spawners. We've actualy scaled down, in the past we used larger hairless breeds, but the color selections are much better with the smaller fluffy breeds. Most often a free line is used but under a balloon has it's application. Haven't had to use any rattles etc as squeeling and splashing has been working really well. Finding this bait is hard sometimes and it's good to get orders in at least 63 days in advance.

i'm in same boat as you on not having a DD but I have 4 fish over 9 with biggest coming in a tourney which was 9.93...oh so close. I caught that one on a c-rigged fluke and the other 3 on a jig...all came from same spot in 2 days on Fork. Also mixed in were 4 others between 7-9 all from this same spot in those same 2 days. I must have been at Falcon since this could never be possible on Fork. That was for you Cam. smile

Jigs, Big Cranks, Big swimbaits, big worms/Flukes. If you're going to target the big fish you've got to be prepared for less action. There's millions of stories where guys threw smaller baits in shallow water and caught a biggen, but most often those the big girls are caught in deeper water. Most important, keep casting. Good luck!

My dad's caught 2, a 10.10 and a 10.01, one on a jigNpig (back in '95 on fork) and the second one in October of 2010 on an excalibur spit'n image.

My PB is "only" 8.8 and came on a red/chartreuse trap.

11.86, 10.02, 9.35, 9.10 and to many other 8's to count all came on a JIG. The ultimate big fish bait ESP this time of year. Fish it all day and know your fishing for one bite. You have to have a mindset u don't care about catching small fish or getting a lot of bites. The bigger the profile the better!!!!

One on a swim jig 11.25, and the other on a c-rigged fluke 10.1. Had one on a swim jig come off at the boat that was probably the biggest I've ever had on. That one still hurts.

All on tourney scales:

10.24 Junebug Zoom 6 inch lizard
10.18 Black and Blue Strike King Jig
10.12 Fire Red Mann's One Minus

Also, had a 9.99 that just wouldn't bump on a Black and Blue Strike King Jig too.

I'm headed in the wrong direction weight wise.

Lost a couple I know were bigger on DD22's.

I have 11 DD's, all but 2 came off a big brush hog! One on a bandit 200 series crank, and one at 3:00 in the morning at Fork on a red shad trick worm!

The main key ive learned to catch moe bigger fish is to fish the lakes that are more known for bigger fish! Spend more time in those areas! For example, ive fished a lake 300+ times and caught only one Dd, but found a lake and fished f5 times and caught a Dd. I kept going back and in one week caught two more over 10. Ive found a couple lakes like that and thats where i spend most of my time. Especially in the spawn!

2 on big cranks, 1 on a 10" Powerworm in red shad, 1 on a jig.

On a side note, both the crankbait DD's came from fairly shallow water with heavy cover slow cranking the bait.
