I just wanted to get a response of all who have caught a double digit bass, or several and the bait you caught it on.

I am just wanting to see what baits tend to get the bigger ones.

My personal best is 9.04, and it came off a fat free shad, and not even the biggest one...the 12-14' runner.

anyways, if you wouldnt mind sharing, I would appreciate it.

thanks

Usually the bait you have tied on and get it in front of them! Lol

I have kept a lot of records and have caught them on just about everything. Of course the baits that I favor (normally deep water stuff) have caught the most but thats also what I have thrown the most.

I have caught 3 ten's. 2 on a HAWG CRAW & 1 on a 10" POWER WORM. I think u really increase your odds throwing a big bait. I am headed falcon for 10 days Sunday. My bucket list is now a teenager.

I havent caught a dd, but my three heaviest 9's all came on a spinnerbait, which were all postspawned out females.

I agree with JR, I have caught a DD on big Worms C-Rigged, a Jig, deep crankbait, and a spinnerbait. When you put something in front of a DD fish thats willing to bite you'll catch em on whatever your throwing at the time.

Hard to find good size mice but that's my DD bait, so this spring we'll be using pomeranian puppies. They paddle hard and really get the attention of the big spawners. We've actualy scaled down, in the past we used larger hairless breeds, but the color selections are much better with the smaller fluffy breeds. Most often a free line is used but under a balloon has it's application. Haven't had to use any rattles etc as squeeling and splashing has been working really well. Finding this bait is hard sometimes and it's good to get orders in at least 63 days in advance.

i'm in same boat as you on not having a DD but I have 4 fish over 9 with biggest coming in a tourney which was 9.93...oh so close. I caught that one on a c-rigged fluke and the other 3 on a jig...all came from same spot in 2 days on Fork. Also mixed in were 4 others between 7-9 all from this same spot in those same 2 days. I must have been at Falcon since this could never be possible on Fork. That was for you Cam. smile

Jigs, Big Cranks, Big swimbaits, big worms/Flukes. If you're going to target the big fish you've got to be prepared for less action. There's millions of stories where guys threw smaller baits in shallow water and caught a biggen, but most often those the big girls are caught in deeper water. Most important, keep casting. Good luck!

I caught my 11.22 on a F8 Hags Tornado, the 11.45 on a Spook. Also had a 9.41 on a jig.
