My handle has been jammed up and extremely hard to turn.

I am assuming it is the roller clutch bearing, but I'm no reel expert by any means.

I cleaned it all last night, reassembled and it spins freely when disassembled, and when side plate is on, but once the Star drag nut is tightened, it locks up.

Any ideas, does my diagnosis sound correct?

If so does anyone have one or know where I can buy one? Thanks.

did you overgrease the gears? sometimes excessive grease on the gears (around the pinion) can cause the reel to bind.

Could also be the anti-reverse pawl not on correctly, fishing line stuck in the spool races...

It's binding like turning a wrench on a stubborn bolt, not a slight annoyance.

It wasn't over greased. No line inside. Anti reverse is seated correctly and works.

It spins freely when disassembled, and when side plate is on, but once the Star drag nut is tightened, it locks up. I also kept the nut loose, but once I tightened the star drag, it jammed again.

I'm thinking the roller clutch bearing could be bent or something.

NOthing wrong with the reel most likely. It is assembly error so..................

Did you remove the Bearing/Bushing at the bottom of the shaft for anything. If you did are you sure you reasembled correctly and that it is seated with the tabs of the bushing in the slots of the frame. Make sure your Ratchet gear is seated properly in the slot all the way at the bottom of the shaft and that the main gear is pushed all the way down on top of the ratchet gear with the drag washer between them tightly.(This is a common error) Then make sure you have the key washer in correctly. The inner tube of the roller clutch is slotted. Make sure the slots are in properly and that you have your drag star washers installed () or )( and that the friction washer is on top of them. Then install your drag nut over that, install the spring and then the star drag handle and then your handle assembly. Tighten the drag all the way down, while holding the spool give the handle a couple of turns (it may be hard) to seat the bearing properly. Then back off the drag a couple of turns. It should freespin at that point.

I broke it down again. It is currently broke down right now.

The roller clutch bearing does not spin. I have it soaking in a degreaser.

All is well. It was gunked up like nobody's business. Thanks guys. I'll tell you what, I may not know the name of all the parts yet, but I can break this thing down pretty quick and no longer need the schematic.

Remember DO NOT GREASE THE ROLLER BEARING! Or if you do just a light film on the roller clutch inner tube before assembly.
