Hey guys...as I said I am a first time owner and have a question. I'm thinking of installing my new 798's transducer on my Minn kota edge 70. So with the side and down imaging operating and the motor turning left and right, say in windy conditions. Is the image on the screen rapidly changing also? If so that doesn't seem like a good way to focus in on finding fish...structure etc. Transom mounts just give you a picture of what u just passed over 17 ft ago right. Need some experienced help guys.

Sounds like a bad idea

Keep the SI at the console

The only experience I have is what I’ve done. I have three on my boat. 898 on the bow with and 1198 at the console, hooked with an either cable and running off the same trans, which is mounted to a trans saver mounted to the side of the jack plate. I have a thur the hull trans for reading while on plan which is connected to the Y cable into the 1198. I also have 587 that’s connected to the TM mounted in the dash on the bow. All this works just fine for me. Good luck!

I would start off with your 798 at the console with a ram mount so you can turn it when your on the bow. Thats how I started at first.

Congrats on the new boat. Don't forget to put the drain plug in before you launch.

PS. Sooner or later, you WILL forget to put the plug in, so make sure you keep your bilge pumps in working order.
