Ray roberts has almost risen about 8 inches in the last 10 hours. THe lake is right at 4 ft low and I predict this rain to just about fill her up. We have lots of flooding going on in DC right now with many of the major creeks out of their banks.

This might make one heck of a spring and spawn!

I had 1" at my house in San Angelo.
I believe they got a little more than that on parts of the Ivie watershed but not any large flooding type stuff like closer to the metroplex. It definitely helps though.

Not yet. So far the Tyler area has been in its usual dry slot. We've only gotten about a third of an inch. The ditch in front of my house doesn't even have any water in it, so Tyler and Palestine haven't exactly caught a lot of runoff.

I imagine lewi, ray bob and gvine will all be full pool if not more by the weekend. Hickory creek is near flood stage. Denton creek is 5 feet above flood stage. Clear Creek is 4 feet from flood stage. And its still coming down. Keep on keeping on.

It's been raining every few days since October. By April everything should be great, in fact, we might be a little sick of rain by then. Harold Taft always said a drought usually ends with a flood. He knew Texas weather.

With the lack of rain we had this past year. I am not complaining when, or where or how the rain comes, we need it in a bad way. I just hope all the nay-sayers about the rain remember August and September are coming and its gonna be hot!

Thank you Lord for the RAIN!

Lavon is up 7.5" since yesterday's reading on the TWDB website. It's now "only" 10.89 feet low. This rain will dent that, but I doubt it will bring it up too far toward pool level. I'm guessing no more than 3 feet total, and some of that may have to be released to Hubbard.

Its come up about 1.4 feet. Look at full pool then subtract current elevation. This will give you the amount the lake is low.

It is 4.97 feet low this morning and has come up about 10" since yesterday. I don't recall the exact measurement yesterday.

Facebook post from my friend Rob Jordan, a ranger with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers:

"Glad to see this steady soaker rain we are getting. Our guage here at the Lewisville office recorded 3.84" in the last 24 hours. During that same timespan Lewisville Lake rose almost a foot (current elevation 517.21') and Ray Roberts rose a little over 3/4 of a foot (current elevation 628.82')."

I'm with you Adam. 2 feet tops. Probably won't get that.

I would be in the minority. I don't want it to fill up. I don't want the grass to get to much water over it. Last time it did that we lost it. Of course that was 8 feet and not 5, but don't want to chance it. Let it start growing again then fill up slowly.

I think we would be alright with 4 but there is always that chance that it would kill it. We certainly don't want that to happen again.

lol.... I guess I just dont fish grass on Ray Roberts. I could care less about it unless its hydrilla.... and yes its starting to come back just a bit (as everyone knows) BUt even if it does I still dont care.... I would rather be as far from grass on that lake as possible.

I think the radar is overestimating some but this is showing 10.85" just east of Lake Kiowa. Pretty much everything south of 82 here goes to RR.

Yeah, I think it is overestimating to some degree, but it's been POURING all night and morning long at my house in Grayson County. We've easily had 5-6" here. Small lakes are overflowing, creeks are full, pastures are standing in water, and my backyard is my newest bass fishing hole.

I think Ray Bob and Texoma will be at full capacity or better when all of the runoff is over.

Adam it sure will be. Last year it was nice, but it will look like you could walk across now.

B if you fish the grass or not, doesn't matter. Having the grass will help the lake as a whole. I prefer hydrilla too, but any grass(habitat) is better than no grass for the lake.

Hmmm. Maybe it isn't overestimating the rainfall by that much after all.

From KXII-TV Channel 12:

"GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - The Grayson County Sheriff's Office reports several roads are closed due to high water from rainfall the past 24 hours.

Here's the list of road closed at this time in Grayson County:

Luella Road 1 mile south of Hwy 1417 at the bridge
Gage Road west of Miller Road north of Hwy 82
Horseshoe Road off of Hill Road near Tioga
Hunter Road near between Tioga and Gunter
Pecan Street east of Sadler
Dagnan Road @ Swindle Road west of Sherman
Jordon Creek Road, Collinsville
County Road 226 near Tioga
Range Creek Road near Collinsville
Foy Wallace near Gunter
Longhorn Trail off West Washington west of Sherman

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office anticipates closing State Highway 56 between Bells and Sherman at the Choctaw Bridge, as water is near the highway now."

I agree with you danny. Btw there is starting to be millfoil all over that lake. I went out 2 days ago and saw it in places that I didnt earlier this year. Have you noticed a lot more millfoil?

I have seen grass everyplace I fish except a couple spots way up North. There is also more hydrilla on the lake now since in the late 90's.

That's about right. Hubbard is up about a foot. Fork is only up 4 inches. They need to close the gates at Fork.

All of Hubbard Creeks runoff comes from South and west. Well Enco has a little drainage to the east but not much.

Happy days. Last year in the Plano/Allen/McKinney area we had 23 inches of rain. So far this year 6.6 inches. I like this kind of winter.

Tyler is still getting a slow, soaking rain. Great for farmers, but if we're going to fill up lakes that are 5-6 feet low it's going to have to come down a lot harder than this.

Since I've lived here (15 years) I never cease to be amazed at how storms that are ferocious just south or west of the Tyler area suddenly fizzle when they approach the Smith County line. That goes for winter storms as well as rainstorms.

It will take alot more rain than this to help pines or fork or sandlin. It will take years or a tropical storm

+1. Not near enough rain has fallen around Sulphur Springs to help Fork and it was dismal around Mt. Pleasant too. We need about 6 inches to piggy back this storm to make any real dent in these lakes.

The gates on Lavon don't open until the lake goes above conservation pool at 492ft. Didn't get enough rain to raise the lake 10+ ft.

Texoma is up a foot so far. Every pond on the north side of lake is full and running over spillways. The creeks are flowing like white waters. Wish they would close the gates and let Texoma fill up

guys, use this website, usgs, pick your major river basin and watershed, has most major lakes in Texas except for border ones. some lakes are updated as often as every 15 minutes. hallelujah rain!

Well, I was hoping we would get 4 or 5 inches like a lot on here, but the airport in Texarkana has recorded .87 inches in the last 24 hours. Yet again, like Razorback said about Tyler, the storms just fizzle out before they hit us.

My private lake is still going to be about 4 feet low after this passes and the ditch that fills my lake isn't flowing. frown

One of these days, I'll have water over my spillway again.

All the back creeks of Clear Lake(Galveston) are over their banks. Went driving around about an hour ago. The lake itself is gonna be real dirty these next couple days. Haven't seen the water moving like this in a good year.

The way they run those gates on Pines makes no sense. they need to keep all the water thay can get, how short theur memory is of last year and it's only January 2012....ah well, they get paid more than i do to make those descisions... rolfmao

Here is a great web site I got from Buda 13 today. It shows the current level and how much of a change has occurred in the last 24 hours. The raise in some of these lakes in the last 24 hours is unbelievalbe.
