From talking to different reps more like a Calais less like a curado....Overpriced in my opinion...Shimano has made some bad decisions with their reels this year...

Has anyone tried them? I had to take an E7 back yesterday to Academy. I did not have my receipt, so they only gave me store credit at the close-out price of the E7, $119.88. I traded up for a new G6 @ $159. I sure like the way they feel in hand but haven't thrown it yet. Wondered if anyone has tried one yet? Okie I just got the G5 (I'm assuming you mean the 200G series and the 5,6,7 reflects gear ratio) and I love it. I'm using it as my crank setup and after fishing with it saturday I thought about coming home and buying another. I have a t-rig abu garcia revo-x and I gotta tell you as of right now I can't feel a whole lot of difference. Shimano just makes good reels.

I have read this as well and was hesitant about picking one up, but I was happy with my purchase. I've never had a shimano reel though and they said last years model was a better built reel (or previous model w/e year that was).

I don't own one, but I picked some up, there is something about them that doesn't feel as good as they used to be. Maybe I'm wrong. I bought a Lew's tournament speed spool instead. Super nice reels.

Their going backwards. Have a guy that does reel repair here that broke a new one down and their made cheaper. Lews is the one that will be taking their market.

If you compare the curado G to the curado E, you will be disapointed. It wasnt made to be an improvement over the E series, that's why it retails for less then the E's did. Whether it's worth the price I have no idea, haven't used one.

I just had a guy send me a hand full of reels Curado e Curado g & Chronarch in diffrent gearing.
The Citica E is the new Curado G. The Curado E is the new Chronarch.
The Curado g has black handle & star. They have made some minor changes like new drag washer & key washer. They should have also changed the bottom drag washer but they didnt.
Just my .02

I bought one E7 and like it, but I sure like the old Greenies, they are solid.

Well, after further studying and getting people's opinions, I decided to upgrade a little and I went and traded the G6 for the new ChronarchE7 7:0:1 reel. It has a lot of plastic, too. I have 7 other E7 and E5 Curado's and like them. The one I exchanged I did not have my receipt so got a store credit. I had to buy something at Academy. Otherwise, I would have got a refund and bought a used Core on Ebay for the same amount I paid for the ChronarchE7. Anybody have the new ChronarchE7?
I have the new chronarch and love it, the only thing I can say is I have to set all 3 brakes to run the reel not like my e7 and 50e cruados

The Shimanos don't feel good, because, the horizontal balance is bad. Big handle, long handle stalk = way heavier "feel" on the handle side. That's why I went to the Steez, better horizontal balance, less weight, swept handle, and lighter weight magnetic spool. If you have medium or small hands the Steez is the deal! If you don't want to spring for one, then look for some of those features in a less expensive reel. I loved my Shimanos.....until I picked up a Steez.
