Been using a Save Phace for almost 6 years and think they work great. A lot smaller than a helmet but doesn't provide the protection factor that a helmet would. It's enough for me to keep the bugs and rain from hitting the face. You can get four different lens for them which is nice. Clear, Yellow, Smoke and Mirrored. Cool looking paint jobs too.

I bought mine for cold weather. It does well blocking most of the wind. Light weight too. If you get one consider the getting the bag to keep the lens protected while in storage lockers.

I can't see myself wearing one of those. When its cold, I wear a camo ski mask while I'm running full throttle.

Love my save phace. I have thought about ordering a spare with the sale they have going.
Helmet wearer's, think about getting spit out of the boat at 70mph and hitting the water skipping feet first. If you're lucky, you'll be paralyzed from the chin strap breaking your neck. If you aren't, it will just remove it from your shoulders. Granted, you may make it out just fine but both of those could happen a lot easier with a helmet vs something that will just fly off. Also, what if you're unconscious and the additional weight of the helmet keeps your head underwater? Water and pavement aren't the same thing and the same safety gear doesn't interchange well. You could make the same argument that hitting water at 70mph is going to be like hitting pavement. It all depends on how you land. That said, I wear a savephace when the situation warrants it.

You can get the same results from an $17.99 paintball mask.
If you are going to shell that kind of money out, get some Oakley Ski goggles. One point that seldom is discussed is the space they take up. Having 3 guys in the boat with them...talk about killing an entire storage box. I've tried to goggle thing. Rain stings on the face at 80mph. I do agree a paintball mask will probably do just as good as a savephace.

I've hit pavement and dirt faster than I care to think about anymore man, it's not how hard the object you're hitting is that is the problem. It's the fact that water will cause a spectacular amount of instantaneous drag on the base of the helmet the second you hit of you hit the water feet forward on your back. I've hit pavement from having bikes come out from under me, being hit by idiots who don't notice the bike at the stop sign, and from drunks who can't stay in their lane and run you off the road as well as MX injuries that have put me in the hospital and under the knife. Helmets have saved my life plenty of times and I'm a strong proponent of safety gear but to me, a helmet and water don't mix at all.

I'm only saying that you could also land head first where a helmet would likely be beneficial. I too used to race MX. I've hit my head more times that I'd care to remember even if I could remember them. These days I even wear one of those retardedly ghey looking bicycle helmets when mountain biking. Also, do a google image search using the terms "drag boat". See how many of them don't have a helmet on. They hit the water far more times than we do. There must be something to the helmet.

How do you guys keep yours from fogging up? I stopped wearing it because it fogs up. I have had it for 3 years or so and have wore it more on the 4 wheeler then in the boat.

They are junk. Save your money and buy a helmet and you wont be dissappointed. Helmets are warmer and waterproof.

Well, curiosity killed the cat, for 50% off i couldn't pass it up to try one.
So far i can say they have good packaging and FAST shipping. It came int he mail today.
I got a mask and two lenses for less than what one mask normally costs.
It's a ton lighter than my helmet just picking it up out of the box.
I'm going to give it a try, if i like it great, it will save some room in the boat, but just by looking at it, in the bad cold i think i'm going to want to wear my helmet anyway.
I'm also not sure how well it will do over 80mph, it might not want to stay put, or push on my face too much.
I'll give it a fair try, and if not it won't take up too much room so a co-angler might appreciate me having it int he boat if i'm wearing my helmet.

I love mine and carried it on the LBAA tour last year as a co-angler. Finding room to store it was not a problem with any of the pros I fished with and it sure was nice to have when we hit a hard rain on Guntersville, and to be able to watch where we were going while running the lakes.

Got one for Christmas....love it. If you fish in the rain, or fog, or cold weather then it's a nice way to stay comfortable. Is it a necessity? No. But I'm sure glad to have on.

I had one of the original ones and the lenses always fogged up in the cold rain or cool moist air. They sent me news lenses and they did the same thing. After that I started using a helmet and love it. Last year I bought a new save phace to use on light rain days. It did the same thing about fogging up so I took it back. It real dangerous going 70 and not being able to see since the mask fogged up. Same thing for me. They kept telling me they had the fogging issued solved. After about 3 times getting the "New Anti Fog Lens" I was done with them. Sold my SavePhace and I am done with them. False Advertising in my opinion.......

I heard you wear one into bars and it highly has improved your "hook up" ratio .. What female could possibly deny the power of the "RedRanger"?

Live in the really cold part of Texas have worn them about 4 years. Never had any problem with fogging sure keeps the cold off your face and eyes also helps with ears. WE have to fish here snow, ice and 40 to 60 mpr wind a lot in winter. In the summer keeps from drying eyes out running high wind and 100 temps.
