I have a Ripetide St w/IPilot on my cat. I love how it performs but the digital motors do make a noise everytime you engage it. Does anyone know if this motor sound is emitted through the water column? If so, I am assuming it can spook the fish. I need an excuse since fishing was terrible last year (LOL).

What I've noticed, if I can drift with the wind and not have to get on my TM its some of the best fishing I've had.

What I've read is fish are less disturbed by a tolling motor thats on all the time and more disturbed by the TM constantly going off and on.

I use WD40 to keep the squeaks to a minimum.

Buy a HydroWave to cover the noise of the TM.

I use "Anchor" a lot on my IPilot and haven't noticed it making any difference at all.

All trolling motors make a noise easily heard under water. You can try it yourself but if you're within 30 or 40 feet you will hear any trolling motor running.

Now consider that the bass use their lateral lines to "hear" and well, they hear you. The quieter the better but if you're sneaking you're culling.
