Great! , Thanks ! Wondering if you can really stand up and fish crankbaits in lakes? well not necessary, but been able to fish standing with no worries of loosing your balance will be worth it!
any of you have try to fish standing up for more that 5 minutes on the lake ?
if you have, will you share the pros and cons?
Just try to decide which one to buy!

If your an average to above average sized guy the only boat your going to be able to stand in with minimum worries and comfortably is the pro angler by hobie. Its a beast of a kayak though.
Anything else is going to be somewhat scary if your in a lake. Especially if you get some waves or wind.

5'8" - 225lbs - Stand up and fish squarebills and medium divers in warm weather.
If you've never fished a crankbait from a kayak beware that even a shallow diving squarebill will pull you around the lake. I've effectively drug my Coosa around for hundreds of yards with just the resistance of a crankbait in low wind.
Add any high resistance swimbait, spinnerbait, jerkbait to this list..

In addition to the Hobie craft mentioned above... Jackson Coosa, Jackson Cuda, Native Ultimate series, Diablo watercraft are all relatively stable to stand and cast in in my experience.

5'7" 200 lbs, I stand in my Coosa all the time. I fished open water at Hubbard for hybrids as well and had no issues. Now with that said, you need to have a strong core to handle the waves in the open lake if you plan to stand for hours. I may have the shape of an entire Apple, but the core inside is strong as an ox LOL
Kayaks can be made for standing, but if your body is not made for balace you are just SOL

After seeing all those pics of little fellers standing in nice calm flat water, I thought I'd mention I'm 6'9" 330 pounds. If you want a anything close to kayak that you can stand on for hours in nearly all conditions a Pro Angler is the way to go.

Hang in there for another week or so. Our NuCanoe Frontier 12's are shipping February 1st and are scheduled to arrive in time for the second week of the Dallas Boat Show at Market Hall. Super stability, performance, and versatility are going to make the Frontier 12 a very popular fishing platform. I have had the personal opportunity to test paddle and stand in the Frontier 12 and would be more than happy to share my very positive experience. Also have literature available in the store or you can visit NuCanoe's website at www.nucanoe.com. Be sure to watch the video demonstrating the amazing stability of this fishing machine.

MR...I'm also a believer in the Pro Anglers. We have a long list of satisfied PA customers.
Regarding the Frontier 12, believe it or not, your svelte 330# figure would not be a big factor in performance or stability. The Frontier 12 sits at an almost empty floating height until it receives a 350# load.

I'm waiting on a PA deal like the deal I found on a Mountain Bike last spring.
Driving through the subdivision on "community yard sale" day and saw two mountain bikes in a driveway. One was a Huffy or some sort and the other a Gary Fisher Full Suspension bike about 5 or 6 years old in great shape. I asked how much are your bikes and the response was $20 each. I was almost shaking as I pulled out my wallet!
Anyone wanna trade a Gary Fisher mountain bike for a used PA? LOL
