I attend Baylor University in Waco and am really missing my weekly fishing trips to the creek back home. Since i have acces to the Bosque, and Brazos river here in Waco i figured id give them a try. Anyone had any experience and succes on either of these? Just wanted to see if it was worth me getting up early on a saturday, us college kids hate that. What is my best bet for lure and presentation this time of year?
Thanks
AB

There are plenty of bass in both of those. The bridge pilings always had plenty of brush around them back when i was there.

I went to baylor.. I took my boat out on the river all the time. The fishing sucks but the opportunities I had with chicks was incredible. cheers I remember one night after scruffy murphys I went up to the hottest chicks at the bar and told them I had a bass boat and I lived on 3rd and gurly. My garage door would be up and lets go to the brazos... I told them I'll see ya after the bars closed and walked out. To my suprise they showed up about 2:15.

Ended up being one of the most fun- craziest nights of my life. I watched the sunrise on the brazos river that morning for the first time.

Kayak is perfect to parallel the bank with a square bill lots of stumps and lay downs along the river. Also in front of weed beds. There r some pretty good fish in the river. Good luck.

I have a kayak too, and you can use it to your advantage. I like finding county roads that cross the river and put in. Find eddy waters and sandbars where you can get out and wade fish. River fishing is tons of fun on light tackle. The white bass are fixing to start their annual spawn and you can catch them in the South, Middle, and North Bosque. Check the stocking report on Lake Brazos. They have stocked 133K pure strain Florida Largemouths in the last 3 years if you are wanting to catch the big fish.

The bosque river is loaded with oppurtunities to catch fish. right now i've been hitting the river in my kayak and doing pretty well. I put in at the mcc boat ramp and go down river. We've had the best luck flipping texas rigged soft plastics in the brush that lines both banks. Caught fish up to five pounds regularly doing this! Another good option is the turn around at the end of mcclenan crossing road. I've had really good luck there on several different techniques. Caught the fish in my sig a couple years ago out of there and it went over seven pounds! Get out there and give it a try I gaurantee you will have a blast thumb

Definitely hit up the Bosque River right there where Twin Rivers golf course is. Park there at the bridge and go up river towards the lake and you will find clear water and lots of bass. Also you can put in below the Whitney dam and fish the brazos. It is an amazing fishery and their are smallmouth in it as well. You might want to call and find out when they are opening the flood gates because once they do that you might not make it back up river. Shoot me a pm and I will tell ya in more detail where to go on the brazos below lake whitney.

fishing is great when the sandbass get moving. The good spots are hard to reach on foot. Lucky you have a kayak. I always had to hike to find the best spots.
