there are a lot of places to stay. don't get your hopes up because they are all junky. that doesn't matter though the fishin is good. wherever you stay you will laugh and tell funny stories about it all the way home. here we go. Oso Blanco, Beacon Lodge, Redwood Inn,Ramada. Days inn,and i think there is a Best westerm too.

weeeeeeeeeeelllll, I dont think the whole lake is crazy just yet, but it could be full blown nuts by the time you get down here....lol. If I was you I would drive for two seconds and fish the first cove you come to on the left(from the county ramp......you will see a hump in the middle of it that has exposed timber sticking up. Start fishing there and continue south. All of those fingers are good and you don't have to burn a lot of gas to have a stellar day. Get some 1 oz jigs in shades of brown and green. Trim the skirts and put a small paca craw on....the bass are hitting the fast sink rate a lot better than a big bodied slow fall right now. You want that jig dropping on their head quick. Flip big Ochos on a 1 oz tungsten weight and put it right smack dab in the middle of the tree. Don't be in a big hurry to pull it out either. Cranks from squares to dd22 depending on depth.....really dont think color matters to be honest at this stage of the game...lil sexy of something and you are golden. GL out there and take a few pics of them bigguns!

It's across from Falcon Tackle where you turn. Go through a small subdivision and keep going straight. Can't miss it.

I don't think any of the ramps at the motel's (with the exception of Beacon) are usable with the lake as low as it is. None of the motels are very far from the County Ramp.

OSO is close to the county ramp. It is old but not too bad and if you get a room facing the highway then boat parking is good. Good luck.

sunbridge inn was great. big rooms, of course like anywhere around the lake the water pressure is pitiful, but who needs a shower, a hot bath does wonders after yanking on those toads all day lol.

Make sure you call ahead to book. I tried to get something in 3 weeks and everything was booked up down there! Oso is pretty decent. Wanted to try Sunbridge but it was also booked next time we are heading down.

at beacon lodge you'll be staying in a 2 room wood shed type building. not pretty but fuctional and they have their own ramp that is right by the cabins. this is where we'll be in 3 weeks.

Holiday Inn Express. a little more pricey but 10x better than the others mentioned. Also much friendlier service, cleaner amenities, bigger rooms, better beds, free breakfast and WiFi internet. No Comparison.

We have stayed at several places down there....Beacon was by far the worst! Oso is 5 star compared to beacon.

I guess it depends if you want to stay in bed, have room service, and surf the net all day- or FISH lol.

True, Beacon is older and more of fish camp style, but that to me is 1/2 the fun. What you get at Beacon is lots of good anglers and people willing to help out. Some of the "resident guest" are the best at helping you catch big fish and plentiful numbers. You can pull your boat up to the bank and walk back to your room, cabin or mobil home if you need to get a nap, lunch, etc and not worry about theft. Speedy is the best guide on the lake for help, and he employees some great people at his lodge. Jennifer runs the office which is being remodeled now to include a food & supplies store, and is extremely friendly and helpful. The outdoor kitchen is where anyone can grill steaks, drink a little beer and tell lies all night. If you don't want to cook yourself, then we always throw Joe (this dude is awesome) a little money and he cooks supper out there for us. He makes killer fajitas and a pot of beans that will make you slap your momma!
As other have said, the boat ramp is in your back yard; some people even use their ATVs to launch the whole time.
Although there may be newer or "fancier" places to stay, Beacon Lodge is where all the Fun-n-Sun boys stay because of the comraderee of the trip. Heck I love the place so much, me and buddy bought a house next door.
Good luck wherever you choose because in the end, it's all about having a good time.

I liked beacon ok for what we were doing which was fishing daylight to dark. If the wife was going it probably wouldn't work. It's basically a fish camp. I wouldn't leave my bags laying open there though. You might take an unwanted guest home. Our room had roaches the size of Zara spooks.
