This has been discussed on here about monthly for years. Here is the latest from a few days ago. If the search function was working you could view a dozen threads about it.

Personally, I use the Lock-n-Stow unit that is very similar. I used the Lock-n-Haul for years with no issues at all. The problem with "transom savers" is the name. None of them saves your transom. You really just need to stabilize your motor and let the strongest part of your boat, the transom, do it's job and support the motor.

Stress on the transom out of the water and on the trailer and stress on the transom while the boat is supported and floating in the water are two separate things.

Use which one you prefer but if you ask a few major boat manufacturers they'd recommend a transom saver. For obvious reasons.

The stress of running across 2' chop at 70mph is far greater than the transom stress of driving down the road at 60mph. The last two boats I have owned, a Bullet and an Allison, have both approved the use of the Lock-n-Haul type motor stabilizer. For obvious reasons.

well if it's good enough for a Allison, it's good enough for me. thanks, and you do have a point about stress doing 70 in chops.

my lock and haul broke at the weld.
if u think the stress of the motor is not much, you dont know chit about metal.
after seeing that i will buy a transom saver soon as i see one long enough.
ihave been around lots of metal fab work. it took quite a lot of stress on the tube to break just above the weld.

need i say more?

No. I think you just about covered it with your extensive engineering knowledge of the effects of stress on metal. Thanks.

I'll keep my Lock-n-Haul, though.

Been using one on a 250 ProXS for several years with zero problems. My motor will not move. Best motor support I have used.

lot's of different types of "lock n haul" type motor totors.

the Pro Rule is my favorite. the tubing is stronger and thicker, and nothing to break!! very little stress on the part.

the older sytle that clips into the holes on the mounting bracket are JUNK!!! the weight of the engine bends that tubing and will eventually break it.

the original transom savers, the ones that go on the trailer roller do their job if used properly. (which very few people do)
only problem with them is the alum. tubing breaks and bends which is not kewl!!!

i will stick with the pro rule.

p.s. wish i could use one on my boat, but the 260 has a log splitter.

i ran a transom saver for years.2 years ago my transom saver came off the roller while i was traveling on the interstae.it drug the road for about 75 miles severley damaging the lower unit. i started running the lock and haul and have had no problems at all.and i like that it keeps the motor straight while trailering. If your boat has a transom that doesnt allow the use of a lock and haul, then my friend, you need to go get another brand of boat.Transoms now a days are very very strong.
