I have heard a lot of good stuff about them and they have the best price I could find. A few things I wonder though.

Is it worth purchasing the extended warranty through them? Will they even honor it or is it just wasted money?

I'm planning on purchasing the Humminbird 898c SI or 998c SI. If you have purchased from them, do they send you the 50 channel GPS puck and do they send you the HD transducer? Or do they cut their costs by sending you the non-HD 798c SI transducer and a 16 channel GPS puck?

Purchased my 788ci HD DI from them...Excellent customer service. They called within an hour of placing my order to confirm and let me know they were shipping my item. Graph arrived on time in excellent condition and I have not had a single product. I know that doesn't exactly answer your question about Warranty but my guess is that if the customer service is that good from purchase to deliver it will be that good on the back end as well!!

The unit description will say which model is in the box. Do not buy the extended warranty, all 800,900,and 1100 series owners can (after registering unit) participate in the HumminbirdSelect program. This doubles your 1 year warranty and gives owners email notices of newest updates and offers.

Bought ext warranty and to date have not had a problem with the unit. Warranty is out now and it was a waste of money. Did not use any of it!

Yes, the 50 channel puck is included. The display is 16:9 which means it is HD.

It is a darn good price too.

Humminbird sells 2 transducers, one is hd the other is not, I'm trying to find out if they include the hd transducer...the non-hd transducer works with all models just as the hd works with the 798...I just want to make sure I get what I'm expecting...has nothing to do with screen size or resolution.

Sounds like I have nothing to worry about though. Will be purchasing tomorrow I hope.

When I bought mine I got the HD ducer, it depends on which one you purchase from them.

If you buy the 798CI HD, that is what you will get!

Well I made the plunge. We will see if I can't get it installed this weekend. I'm thinking it will come by Friday judging by all the reviews I've read. Hopefully my RAM mount I ordered from Amazon and my map card come in by then as well!

There is a lot of mis-information on this topic.

The standard transducer in the box from the Humminbird factory for the 898c SI and 998c SI is the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T and the standard GPS antenna in the box from Humminbird is the GR-50.
Universal Mania won't change those items to sell for a cheaper price.

The 798ci HD SI is shipped with the standard Compact SI transducer for the transom--- XNT 9 SI 180 T. In no case is the larger HDSI transducer shipped with that model unless the dealer does the swap and you pay the difference.
The HDSI transducer is the standard one for the larger SI units.

The HD in the model number of the 798ci HD SI only means it is the 2011 year model and has Ethernet capability. The rest of the features are the same as the previous model 798ci SI.
HD is basically marketing the high pixel count of the smaller screens which is the highest in industry. None of the larger screen models have the pixel density of the 798 which is 31, 170.5 per square inch. The larger the display, the less dense the pixels per square inch they have with the 1198c SI being the lowest at 8,858.2

The HD in the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T transducer model name means it functions with the 455 and 800 kHz Side Imaging frequencies of the larger display models.
All the 798 models use just 455 kHz for Side Imaging.

If you want the HDSI transducer for your 798, you can exchange it through Humminbird and pay the cost difference plus shipping. MSRP for the HDSI transducer is about $270. MSRP for the Compact SI transducer is $185.

This is all what I gathered, I was just worried that Universal Mania would switch out the Transducer/Puck to offset the price, only because the Humminbird rep at the Fun-n-Sun boat show told me that online dealers will do that (he wasn't an employee of humminbird, only a contractor). I talked to a few people and even universalmania.com and they all said the right transducer comes with it. I feel confident in my purchase. Also I asked if they would match the price they had before they put it up to 1299.99 which was 1249.99 and they said they would. Well after my purchase they ended up charging me 1229.99...I can't believe what a deal I got!!

Bass Johnson, you did well with your purchase.
Those shopping for electronics just need to do their research like you did to confirm what the deal includes and doesn't include.
There are some variations of models that are offered without a transducer. CHO is at the end of the model number that Humminbird uses for those.
