I am looking for a kayak trailer to carry a 10' Diablo and a 14' Current Design sit in kayak. I'm not necessarily interested in carrying them both at the same time. Anyone have one of Malone kayak trailers.
Suggestions, please.
Thanks

Depends on if you have room to store it. I bought a utility trailer that I'm going to convert. Others have taken boat trailers and have done the same.

Mariner ( 972-241-1499 ) Has a decent selection of Malone trailers and they can be configured however you want.

Any small trailer frame can be converted if that is what you want to do, but if you don't have the tooling and desire to do it, the Malone trailers are the most bang for the buck I have seen.

I have converted about a dozen used trailers so far and I now just assume I am going to be replacing all bearings, occasionally hubs and always tires. If my budget wasn't so tight, I would simply call Mariner and order what I need.

Good luck, Phill

I didn't realize MS carried the Malone trailers. I have looked at them on some various websites and seem to be about the best bang for the buck for a dedicated "bult for yaks" trailer. The Yakima trailer is really neat, they used to have one on display at Mountain Sports, but pretty pricey.

My current plan is to modify a small utility trailer. Thought about getting the kit from Harbor Freight or Northern Tool, but my wife thinks I have too many unfinished projects now so will probably not go that route in the interest of family harmony. Been looking at a 4X6 foot utility trailier, can find them at Cabela's, TSC, and I think Northern Tool has some finished units. One of those with my Thule XSporter mounted should give me all the room I need to transport my yaks and either bikes or spare camping/vacation gear. None of the utility trailers I have looked at go for more than about $550.
