Caught my first carp today on Lake Dunlap! Was amazing! Took about 15 mins to get it to tire and about 10 more to come up with plans to boat it and trade personal belongings in case I went in the drink. I was in a kayak lol.
It went into two brush piles and pulled me for about 60 yards.
I did not get to measure it because I was a little nervous about flipping over. I did measure from the back of my yak to about where it went in the pic and I am guessing 33" and about 15-20lbs.
It was a glorious moment and and beautiful fish to say the least!

Thanks for all the comments.
I have been considering carp fishing over the last two months. So it was a little ironic that I caught my first one unexpectedly. Was a little push I needed. We will see how it goes...
Hope to post more in the future.

Start with whatever gear you currently have...no need to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on new equipment until you know for sure you want to pursue it and want to use the 'euro' gear...
There are many, many carp caught all over with heavy 'bass' gear.
