anywhere there is a lock, dam or deep pool. Gar hang out in deep water until they chase bait near the surface. They will roll at the surface when feeding and it is extremely difficult to get them to bite. Once they take your bait, let them run for a while, I have waited sometimes 10-15 mins of a gar taking off with my bait before I set the hook. Hang on if you got a big one, they will take off and if your drag is not right or line weak.....heart break.

People don't just give out their spots on the open forum. Lake worth has big gar as well.

Don't expect much action this time of year, they arent very active once the water cools down.

I did hear something about a slaughter house having a river of pigs blood flowing into the trinity river...might try that area, might be a good attractant barf

They are near impossible to find in the winter. Usually real deep and inactive

They just lay on the bottom in the winter, don't do much at all. Wait for late march before you bother. Spots are few and far between.

That spot with the pig blood flowing would be good for some monster gar and cats also but after the rain we had here its all gone. The trinity looks like the mississippi now.

Live bait. Don't bother with light gear. Never know when that 60 lb gar is gunna hit.
