Yep. That and the generally pitiful quality of movies in recent years are the reasons why I've been to maybe 2 or 3 in the last 5 or 6 years.

to go to a movie. We just got back from taking my daughter to her first movie. We saw Beauty and the Beast in 3d. For two adults and a child it was $37.50. Add another $20 for a popcorn and a drink. How can people afford to do this very often, much less a high school kid to take a girl on a date? The last movie I went to see at the theater was in 2002 or 2003, I believe. I did not realize it had gotten so expensive. Dang. No wonder my mom takes her grandkids to the cheap movie place in Cleburne, instead of to the one down the street from their house in Burleson.

It's expensive being a family man. I spent less money single and hitting the bars 5 nights a week than I do now. But I will say I like who I am, and the people around me, much more and I'd pay ten times over to keep it that way

Cinemark in Lancaster is like 3 bucks for first run movies. Yes you have to pack heat to get throught the parking lot but it's a good deal. I let the wife and kids take the lead, she has the 9mm and I cover them with the .45. She takes the big purse stuffed with popcorn.

We go maybe 2-3 times a year. Went yesterday afternoon and the price for a matinee showing was $7.50/each. May be a while before I go again.

No wonder so many families have movie night at home. Many of the movies are out on DVD's just a few weeks after they open in theaters. At $20.00 to buy the movie, you are still ahead by $30.00-40.00 by waiting just a few weeks. It is even cheaper if you rent the movie.

I don't go. Don't understand why people pay that much for so little entertainment.
But to be fair, the cost of a movie ticket is less than the cost of a Crown Royal at the bar.

Okay.... we need to work up a spreadsheet that cross references this thread with any number of other threads that talk about our group visitng BPS, Cabellas, Acadamey, Tacklewarehouse, etc.
I am always amazed at how many people talk about dropping "a couple of bills" or getting $150 - $250 rods or buying $15-$20 lures.
Most, not all, but most of us spend a lot of discretionary money on different things. My wife and kids love movies, so I figure if I can spend the money I do on fising (because I don't really need any more stuff), then I can spend money entertaining them.
I mean really, you spent $50 going to a movie.....where else did you spend $50 this week?

Everything is expensive.....
I went grocery shopping with my wife last week and just about passed out at the final bill.... We didn't get that much either.

Last movie I saw at the theater was "The Bucket List" before that something like "Top Gun". But I get tripped up in BP a lot.
