to go to a movie. We just got back from taking my daughter to her first movie. We saw Beauty and the Beast in 3d. For two adults and a child it was $37.50. Add another $20 for a popcorn and a drink. How can people afford to do this very often, much less a high school kid to take a girl on a date? Thats why I dont go...at least thats the excuse I use. We can watch a movie in the man cave for 5 bucks!

HEY!! It's only money, go to the movies, for cryin' out loud!! Everybody in our trailer park goes to those fancy Movie Theaters! And buys the BIGGEST cokes and HUGE BUCKETS of popcorn!  We live in .............A TRAILER PARK!!

I've lived in the DFW are since 1989, and have been to two movies, the last being Castaway, and the projector broke with about 30 minutes left in the movie. Weird thing is that I don't feel I've missed a thing, and have saved tons of $$.

My wife and kids love movies, so I figure if I can spend the money I do on fising (because I don't really need any more stuff), then I can spend money entertaining them.

Everything is expensive.....
I went grocery shopping with my wife last week and just about passed out at the final bill.... We didn't get that much either.

Last time I went to a movie theater I saw Willy Nelson....starring in "Barbarosa". Yep...it's been awhile.

Cinemark in Lancaster is like 3 bucks for first run movies. Yes you have to pack heat to get throught the parking lot but it's a good deal. I let the wife and kids take the lead, she has the 9mm and I cover them with the .45. She takes the big purse stuffed with popcorn. tinseltown in grapevine is waaaayyyy cheaper than most other places. like 6 bucks a ticket. maybe less. thats where we usually go if we wanna see a movie. we go to about 5 movies a year. It is 4 bucks a ticket. We took a few kids and moms to see Chimpwrecked at fossil creek and they tickets were 7 each (for a matinee) what a ripoff. I try to goto grapevine or the $1 movies. I also smuggle in a juice box for my kid.

my 11 yr old went to the movies on a field trip and had to buy her own drink and snacks for the first time...she couldn't believe how expensive it was. Now she knows why we smuggle candy in.

My new hotazz girlfriend worked at a movie theater over christmas while she was home from school... one of those movie tavern places (in colleyville)
Damn she knocked down some good money
Was cheap for me though, we went to 6-7 movies in 4 weeks, didn't cost me a dime and IT was all you can eat. SCORE

I don't like 3D movies, so I save there. Plus, here if you go on Tuesdays, it's matinee prices all day. There just aren't a whole lot of movies I want to go pay to see.

Okay.... we need to work up a spreadsheet that cross references this thread with any number of other threads that talk about our group visitng BPS, Cabellas, Acadamey, Tacklewarehouse, etc.
I am always amazed at how many people talk about dropping "a couple of bills" or getting $150 - $250 rods or buying $15-$20 lures.
Most, not all, but most of us spend a lot of discretionary money on different things. My wife and kids love movies, so I figure if I can spend the money I do on fising (because I don't really need any more stuff), then I can spend money entertaining them.
I mean really, you spent $50 going to a movie.....where else did you spend $50 this week? I have no problem spending the money on my family. It's just that that is high for a movie. There is no reason a movie should be over $7/ticket, Much less $13.

Well, then, let's add in the costs of video games systems for the kids, a trampoline, American Girl dolls, countless Lego sets, etc. My kids sure as heck aren't deprived, and, when I buy fishing tackle, there is a great chance that the kiddos will get to use/enjoy a lot of it, as well--they love fishing, and we enjoy time spent doing that MUCH more than going to the movies. I feel like I was robbed 90% of the time I do go to the theater. Fact is, I hate going to the movies, and my wife enjoys it, so she takes the kids. I love fishing, and my wife hates it, so I take the kids. I hear what you're saying, but I don't see going to the movies as critical to living a quality life.

The indoor theaters here are meeting points for future felons and their hood rat gf's. Then you got those groups of people who haven't grasped the concept of sthu during a movie. It's sad there has to be a shift of cops in the lobby. All this in a nice part of town!
