Looking for some info on guides in the Galveston area. The in-laws are coming down for Spring Break (14-17) and the FIL wants to fish, and he's buying...SAAAWWWEEET!

Anyways, he's looking for a 6-8 hr trip, obviously not bluewater time, but enough to maybe hit a few rigs? We're not picky about what's on the other end of the line, just looking for some excitement outside of the bay!

I'm not a fishing amateur by any means, but this will be my first offshore trip, FIL has been a handful of times, so I don't really know what to expect, mainly interested in somebody that excels in the customer service category.

Any information and/or experiences with guides in the area would be greatly appreciated!!

Sping Break will be really iffy due to the winds at that time of year. Winds=waves; waves=no go. Have a back up plan. Keep your options open for the entire week. If a window of opportunity opens then go-man-go and do not hesitate one moment. If you do, you might lose the opportunity.

I would find a guide in the area and see if he'll let you book the first opportunity during that week rather than a specific day. Otherwise just check with the party boats at the local marinas.

I would keep a bay trip on stand-by though. That time of year can be too windy and rough for weeks on end. March through May is usually the windiest months of the year.

i have talked to this guy a couple times, but havent been able to get a trip scheduled with him yet. I met him years ago at the Arlington Tackle Show... talked with him for awhile, and even got him to pull out his map... he has snapper spots all over the place! He has the boat and the equipment to do pretty much whatever and whenever... from offshore to bay..

He even has a house on the canals with lighted pier to fish off of... that is rentable.
