All I do is fly fish. Mostly from the bank. What do you want to fish for? Most of the ponds on hood you can catch panfish with a worm. The two washrack lakes are good for catch and release and have some nice sized bluegills and bass. They are catch and release only. Airfield lake is good as well. Nolan creek thru downtown Killeen is good as well. I park in the park off WS Young between BUS 190 and Rancier and have fished it both up and down stream from there. Some large cats, bass swimming around. Abundance of panfish but they all seem to be pretty small. It runs all the way to Belton. There is also stocked rainbow trout in Nolan creek in Belton, Millers Pond in Temple and soon to will be stocking Copperas Cove City park in Feb.

Usually fish for bass, but have had very limited luck in the hood lakes, since it has gotten colder i have been fishing round 2pm, would be interested in trying my hand at trout fishing, but have no clue even where to start.

Thanks!

get you some size 10 single egg hooks from walmart, swiwel, can of corn and 1/8oz egg sinkers. Place the egg sinker on the line, tie on the swivel. add about 18" of 4lb leader material or smaller to the hook. Cast it out and let it sit is about all there is to it. Thats how my wife and daoughters fish for them while I use my flyrod. They have 5.5' Berkly Cherrywood light action rods spooled with 4lb test line. If you are using heavier rod and line, just get a bigger egg sinker. Power bait works better then corn, but I don't know anyplace that sells it local. I order it off line from Cabela's. But if you do find any the yellow/orange/green rainbow seems to work best for the wife and kids.I would offer to take you out fishing, but swampped at work for the next month or so. Will probably be mid march before I go myself.

Watch the barometric pressure. Not the temperature. When the pressure is falling, fish. Rising, clean the house or something. If you can find a creek that runs into the lake, go pick up some crappie jigs and have fun. Usually creeks on the North end of the lake will be better. Pressure is a must! Anything over 30.25, don't waste your time. thumb
