It will work on smaller fish and larger fish you may have a tough time. There's no guarantees on any fish, so I'd bring what you have and we can make it work. I've been known to share my rods/reels on a good day when we've got them going. Looking at trying a new swim so well see how it goes. I'll post the link later on when I'm on my computer not my ipad
