Which sunglasses do you prefer? I've been looking for a little while but I can't decide. Looking in the $150-$250 price range.

I have Costa 580 Zane's.
It's best to go and try some on somewhere and see what fits, looks good, etc. I tried mine at a retail department store, then bought them online once I knew what I wanted.

Costa 580's. If they're for bass fishing, the Green Mirror over Amber is the only way to go.
The bright blue lenses are great for bright days in blue water, if you do that type of fishing much, I'd have a pair of those too.
Go to their website and search frames that will fit your head.

I love my Costa's. Best sunglasses I have ever owned. And I only use them when I go fishing to protect them from getting misplaced or damaged.

Hands down........... Costa 580's lol, sorry I find it funny that you have a sunglass company in your sig but tell people to buy something else. OP, I've had 3 pairs of costas. I paid retail for every pair. 2 of them had 580 lenses. The 580 lenses are clear but shatter pretty easily. I like my glasses to protect my eyes. I wear Kaenon Lewi glasses now that I paid full retail for. The clarity is just as good as the 580s and my eyes are protected from flying objects.

Shouldn't be funny bub, I wear both, my wifes uncle owns SunDog eyewear out of Canada and are just now getting into fishing.
They have been in Golf for years so I get no money or sponsorship from him, just free glasses! Hard for me to tell a cat about a fishing glass when they are brand new to the fishing industry.
But glad you are on top of your game!

Geez Adam P.! Dude, seriously...maybe you should read the rules of this site! The MODs do a great job of keeping the civility of the TFF in check! It is better to show them some respect! They have a pretty thankless job and they are like our Army, All volunteer! And no, I ain't sucking up but I know better than to p*zz them off by getting testy with them! I happen to know several of them and they are 1st class and they don't go looking for a fight! On an other note: Hey Zeeter...how about getting me a pair or two of free sunglasses from your kinfolk? I'll try them out! Man...I love free stuff!

OAKLEY and only OAKLEY. Lifetime warranty. Interchangeable lenses(golf, fishing, shooting etc.). Look great. I have three pair with the oldest pair being 9 years old. Still wear them though I've changed lenses a few times. As far as styles? There are plenty to choose from. Buy what YOU like.

Costa 580 glass - Harpoon stylin'
Unbelievable sunglasses and worth every dollar. The green mirror are incredible! I wear the Harpoon style and they fit like they were custom made for my face. I think it is real important to go to a store that carries all the styles and find the ones that fit your face. I put mine on and forget all about them being on. I have had some glasses over time that a had to constantly fiddle with them and it get agravating. If you are anywhere close to Tyler go by Ragsdale & Martin Optical and talk to Mike Martin Jr. and he will hook you up with what is best for you. http://www.ragsdalemartin.com/ I am not associated with them in any way, but that's where I buy my shades and prescription glasses. I got my very first set of glasses from them in 1972.

Fouzman, they green glass(mirrored) over the amber or copper? I thought the non-mirror would be a little better. I have a copper and blue mirror lens now, can you tell a big difference?

I wear Kaenon Klays everday and the Kaenon Hard Kores in the boat. Why these glasses have not blown up in this part of the country I am clueless. The clarity is second to none and the durability is great. they just feel right and they have a lot of styles to choose from. I like the fact that after a lot of hard use the frames are still tight and no worn out nose pieces or ear pieces. Also like the fact that there are no metal hingles exposes on the frames that can suck when you put them on in the summer. I have even worn the Klays while fighting grass fires under my helmet shield and they still look new.

I just ordered my 3rd pair of polarized Oakley flak jacket XLJs in black iridium (my eyes are wearing out faster than the glasses!). I was blown away the first time I put them on by how clear and crisp everything was over the entire field of view. Well I guess wearing Oakley's is one thing I can say I have in common with KVD!

A plastic lens can shatter. If you are worried about it, a polycarbonate lens is a better choice. It's impact resistant.

I'm kinda a sunglass nut and have tried all brands mentioned and more. If I can site fish at all that is how I fish, so lens are important to me. I feel costa 580 glass copper base is the best site fishing lens. Green, silver,or plain copper all work but for my eyes if I'm site fishing in low light I like the plain copper. if the sun is high I don't see much difference, but either plain copper or green mirror do well. These glasses are NOT shatterproof so be careful. I like hammerhead best but that is just my head-ALWAYS try them on first, then buy them where ever you like-I buy directly from the costa site. I am not associated with them in any way. And on the other hand, Shaw Grigsby won a tourney last year site fishing wearing a 30 dollar pair of plastic strike king mangroves I believe, so who knows.

I'm on Costa pro staff, so my opinion does not count. But, here it is anyway, Costas are the best, hands down. Personally I carry 4 different brands of expensive sunglasses in my boat. With that being said I spent $95.00 on a pair of Oakley polarized FLAK lenses 30 minutes ago in blue ice, because the pair I have had scratches on them, I can text you a copy of the receipt. (You will not find an angler more particular with sunglasses, lens color etc than I am). With options like this available at all times, 95% of the time I wear my Costa 580's. The other brands, as hard as I have tried, do not compare to the 580's under most conditions. As far as frames, this is totally up to the persons head shape, size of nose, etc. The lens color, is particular to the conditions, (cloudy, sunny, morning, evening etc.) Generally I will change glasses / lenses 2 or 3 times a day. Check this out for some good info on color of lens. http://www.costadelmar.com/perform/color

Which sunglasses do you prefer? I've been looking for a little while but I can't decide. Looking in the $150-$250 price range.
I have the 400 version of Costa's and they are great! A little less then the 580's but still real good on the water.

I worked in the sunglasses industry for years. I still know several sunglass manufacturer reps. In my opinion Maui Jim's are the best polarized glasses on the market. As for style you have to pic a size that is right for your head size and shape. I like the largest coverage ones they have. I also prefer a glass lense. Some that are extremely curved are a polycarbonate/ plastic lense, they scratch easier.

Amphibia They are new but several elite series guys are swearing by them along with some great sight fishermen. I got some and I love them. http://www.amphibiasports.com/ They don't have many different styles but the ones they have are pretty cool. My other glasses are going in a drawer.

Recently picked up a pair of Costa Galveston 580s and they nlew my Maui Jim Kapaluas out of the water in every aspect but weight of the glasses themselves. It's amazing how much different the world looks through a pair of Costas. I've used Oakley too but Costas really are kmuch better.

I went with Mark's recommendation, ordered the Hard Kores but could not get the C-12 lens, they are coming with G-12 unless my email got to them before they shipped, hopefully I do not have to send them back. I have even worn the Klays while fighting grass fires under my helmet shield and they still look new. mark is right here guys...ive tried them all..kaenons are the BOMB!!! hard kores or rhinos in C12 lenses

I have gone through a bunch of different brands. I ride a motorcycle daily so I am always on the hunt for a better set of glasses that I can use for both riding and fishing. I currently have WileyX and the pair I had before was WileyX as well. The Amber with Emerald overlay is a great lens as far as contrast etc, but these things fog up like crazy. From what I see around the internet, lots of guys on the military forums have the same problem. I contacted WileyX and they said "hmmm, they shouldn't do that, must be your environment." Really? No kidding, that's why I bought a brand of glasses that claimed to be anti-fog, because I am in an environment that tends to fog lenses. So stupid.
My Panoptx did not fog like these Wileys, but they don't make a set with the color lens I want anymore.
Maui Jim had the best polarization in my experience. Oakleys are good, but I can't get the lens I want in the model I want. Costas are great, but too heavy for me to ride with.

I noticed the other day that Walmart has a good selection of Wiley X made sunglasses in their vision centers at the front of the store. They seem to be good quality frames and lenses. I think the price is from 49 to 79 dollars. May give them a look the next time you go to Walmart. They are in a seperate display inside the vision center.

The fact that they float is awesome!! I have lost three pairs of $250 costa del mars in the lake in the last 5 years. I finally at least went to the frat straps to keep them around my head at all times!

I own 3 different Oakleys (mostly bronze polarized) non specific fishing glasses. I never had a problem with them. With all the hype of Costa Del Mar 580G Glases, I decided to buy myself a pair. Well, the lenses are very good (not much noticeable difference site fishing vs. the Oakley though). Slightly better. However, what I don't like about the Costa is even after trying on all the pairs for 5 minutes each, not one didn't put pressure on my temple and give me a head ache. I wear my Oakleys most of the time now unless it's super super bright and I'm exclusively site fishing- then the Costas (for as long as I can tolerate before they are uncomfortable). Plus wearing glass freaks me out. I say go with any Oakley... Antix and Gascan are my two favorite and most comfortable, but some of the old timers might find them too racy so for them I would suggest the Flak Jacket.

I had a pair of Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ's that I loved. They were so comfortable. Now they are at the bottom of twin buttes. 210 dollars down the drain.

Never get oakley's for fishing. Sun screen kills the plastic lens. Looking at the Oakley lenses will make them scratch. Costa Man of Wars with Blue 580 glass are the best around.
