Hey guys. After looking into having it done I have decided to try and take on the job myself. I have a 17.5' Alumacraft that is head to toe covered in carpet. I want to get good quality carpet and have seen lots of mixed reviews online. Anybody have a good recommendation on where to get it and what kind you like best?

I know Lowes and Home Depot carry some that is a lot cheaper. What are the biggest differences between those and something I would get from a Marine store?

Thanks in advance.

I dont know the difference, but It could depend if it is a garaged boat or a outdoor covered boat. My boat is garaged SO I got the outdoor gray carpet from lowes/ home depot and used outdoor carpet glue to glue it to the ply wood I installed in my 16' lowe jonboat. Here is a site for jonboat modifications that might help a little www.tinboats.net They do lots of mods including carpeting.

The best for a bass boat is the 24 oz Bass Cat carpet. If you want some nice 20 oz that is rubber backed, I bought 30 feet for $180.00, from carpetbuys.com. I opted to put a 1/4" rubber pad under mine. Get ready for lots of scraping! Use the carpet glue for the main portion and use the weldwood contact cement (the gel formula) for the edges and deck lids. Take your time, and remember that the prep work is the key to a good finished product! Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys. Just wanted to give an update and show what I ended up going with. I bought the Lancer Dayside Marine Carpet from Lowes. About 60 hours of work later and I'm finally done. I am very pleased with how everything turned out. Lets see if this link will work for pics.
