Is everyone that is taking this trip pretty much using him? I know of a couple of friends who have used him in the past and didn't have "great" experiences. When he's the only game in town; you pretty much have to deal w/ him I guess. Just wondering who else is available or what options we have? Not doing a guided trip, just a self float trip w/ some guys who have doneit in the past but wanting to use someone elses shuttle service. Yes, they are familiar w/ the landowners, water flow and obstacles. Just trying to see what other options are available for a shuttle?

Far as I know your stuck with Gerald if you want to leave from Bakers. Correct me if l'm wrong but I think Shane starts out at the lake and paddles up river, looks like an interesting trip. Bakers does not let you put in or camp there anymore, only Gerald has access except to the ones leasing the property. Dealing with GERALD depends on which side of the bed he gets up on and it is his way because he has it like that and does not care if you go down river or not.

Shane does it but as a "guided trip". Not really interested in a guided trip. More interested in what other options there are besides GB.

I have done it 3 times and used Gerald all 3. If you want to go in at Bakers you have to use Gerald, if you use the State Natural Area you will need a shuttle and can't take out before Blue Sage. There you must no someone or use Gerald or go all the way to the lake.

do a search on TKF. There has been a lot of talk about this topic there. There are a couple guys who live down there and know a lo about the area that might be able to help you out. When I did it I used gerald. I wish someone on the west side of the river had a shuttle. That 2 hour ride back to the start was brutal.

1st of June was when we were thinking but the guy I'm going w/ has used Gerald before and would prefer not to use him again. The 2 hr drive was one reason my buddy didn't want to use him again. That and the fact that he might of "woke up on the wrong side of the bed" the day they used him. The words " you sure ask a lot of questions boy" came up. At that point; my buddy just sat there and stared straight ahead for two hours. smirk

I have used him before and didnt have any trouble. However u can tell by talking to him on the ph that he has a way about him. One option is the bed a breakfast that the lady he uses runs near the river. I forget her name. I dont know if he still uses her to shuttle. Its still a two hour ride but it puts it on the drop off phase at bakers not at blue sage. Her house was only 10 min or so from take out. I was thinking of trying it this year. I would wrather be close to the truck when i take out

We got picked up by him...it was a LONG drive back but otherwise no issue with the guy. When I called him a few weeks later to asked if he happened upon my sleeping bag that got swept away he was a man of few words.
