Gonna hit Inks lake tomorrow. Had a really slow day last time so I thought I would toss out some range cubes to see if they make a difference. My question is how much should a throw out? And, how long do they take to start working? If nothing is biting do you continue to throw out more? Any advice would be appreciated.

I throw out about 5-10 handfulls, just really however much you want to. I usually saw an increase in the bites in around 10-20 minutes. If nothing bites I move spots, if they bite for a while then stop, I throw out more.

be careful not to throw too much of any kind chum. the channel cat will fill up on the range cubes, sour grain, etc. and not eat your bait! just my .02! good luck p.s.-i will usually only throw about 2 coffey can fulls in any hole, that is enough to find out if they are there.

I usually break the range cubes in half and then use a slingshot to get them out to where I am fishing at because I have a hard time throwing them out without hurting my shoulder. Then I usually spread them out and usually only throw out about a doz. I only want to get the catfish to come check out the area and not feed them. Seems like it usually would take about an hr. for things to pick up on the bites. If no bites in a couple of hrs. I like to move. But then this is when I am bank fishing.

Chum a few spots if you can. I'll usually chum 4-5 spots and then start fishing back at the first one. If I don't get bit in a few minutes I move to the next. The important thing to remember is to chum good spots. It's not a magic attractor like folks think. It will pull cats already in the area together and get them feeding but it won't bring them in from very far off.

Pro Tip: Don't leave a grocery sack full of range cubes in the trunk of your car for 6 months. The humidity will cause them to grow huge moldy fros.

If you chum with cubes, try fishing with them. Guys don't say it can't be done, cause it can.

Like said above, if I'm going for channels, I like to spread some cubes in a few spots and then fish the first, if no fish, move onto the next. I only throw about 4 or 5 handfuls at a spot.

Get a kids plastic whiffle ball bat and cut the end off. Put a can of cube in it and give it a swing. You'll spread them out over a nice area. Bait 3 holes. Once you get the 3rd spot baited out go to the first. Make sure you're baiting holes that have fish in them. You'll do a lot better being by grass or stumps than out in the middle of the lake.

I have been cooking some wheat since August of 2011. 5 gallons of wheat, 2 gal of milk 6 packs of yeast, enough water to cover the wheat. This is what I started with. Last week of Dec. I added more yeast and enough milk to cover the wheat.. It's almost ready.
