I'll be fishing in North Texas, primarily at Fork, Monticello, Purtis Creek. I may venture into creeks, rivers, and the coast in the future. I want to get some reds.

I Want to add some Yak Attack Gear tracks, anchor trollies, STS, fish finder. It must have room for a crate, and I must be able to stand in it.

My mind is set on the Ride 135; It seems to me that it's perfect for what I want. I could, however, save some money by going with the Ride 115, or a different make/model all together.

I'm a small guy, 5'7", 140 lbs, got long arms though.

I appreciate any help.

I just got an old model ride135 used and love it. The 135 is gonna be a tad faster than the 115 have more storage so if your going to be going greater distances I would use the extra money for the 135.

sounds like you already decided. Just remember that the ride 135 weighs 80lbs. Not sure if that would be tough for you to load/unload. other than that Im sure its a great boat.

Im sure you will hear plenty of Jackson Cuda recommendations also since that and the ride 135 are the newest thing on the block.

I wouldnt go with a 115 as your main boat. Way to short.

The Ride 135 is a decent yak, be able to hold all your gear no problem. However, although I wouldn't go so far as to say the Ride is too large for you, I will say that your size allows you to get into a higher performance yak. Look into the Jakson Cuda. It's 14 ft long, designed for stand up stability, yet it's significantly faster/more efficient than the Ride 135. It already has a ton of fishing specific designs built in and it offers the unique and innovative high/low seat.

You can check out our in depth reviews on our Facebook here:

The Cuda is initially more expensive than the Ride, but has significantly more fishing related accessories, like multiple rod stagers, rod tip protector, high/low seat, rear hatch, and tackle box stagers.

Basically, the Cuda has the stand up stability of the Ride, the speed of the Tarpon 140, and way more fishing specific designs already built in. Check it out.

My thoughts exactly on the pelican.

...

Being twice your size, I don't think I will be much help, the Ride 135 is a big boat, probably close to half your weight, so you need to take into account how you plan on transporting the yak too. Both what your vehicle is and how you are going to get it from the car to the water (dolly). If you were planning on just carrying it, that would be like me carrying around a rigged hobie pro angler on my shoulder, which is just about impossible.

The 115 should track well enough. A Malibu miniX or a moken 10 would give you a good balance of gear storage, stability, and overall usability. Tarpon 100 or 120 too.

Ocean Kayak PBG, Humminbird 160, square center hatch, deck lighting, all that good stuff... basically more money in accessories than I spent on the boat itself, and it came with the seat and paddle, so that's saying something.

Thanks for the responses. I'm gonna practice some discipline and try to demo as much as possible. I have a habit of doing countless hours of research, but little filed testing.

I've come to the idea that around 700 bucks could get me a decent used boat. I'm seeing some nicely rigged stuff for near that price.

As always, I started with a much smaller budget, looking for a newbie yak; then after reading and obsessing, I realized that I must have a good rig to be happy. bouncy
