I have been going fishing the last couple of days by myself working on getting a mess of crappie together for a family fish fry.
Yesterday I did not have much time, but the fish were biting well and I took home 11 keepers 13" or a little longer.
Today I came armed with a good bucket of minnows and more time to spend.
I caught 20 nice size crappie by the end of the bucket of minnows.
I caught a lot of 8" to 10" fish, and some smaller.
That's a good sign, crappie of all sizes in a school means there will be more crappie down the road.
Most of the fish were over 13" and a couple of them were nice 14" brutes.
There were some black and some white crappie yesterday and today. The black crappie seem to be closer to spawning than the whites are judging by the egg development.
