Okay well while playing on the lease last year I came out a mud hole sideways and smacked a tree with the bed at the back by the bumper. The truck is a 98 z71 I got from my dad. Was thinking bout bying another bed but now I want a flatbed. Anyone done this on this style truck? Have the welding machine and stuff just don't know were to start?

Go on craigslist and find you a flatbed for a chevy, hang it from a tree, unbolt the old bed and drop it off at the metal scrap yard, bolt on the flatbed with the SAME bolts you took off the other bed, strap your gas cap up with some hanging strap, get you some mudflaps on there, go to town... I did a good one for under $1000. sold the old banged up bed for $100. I got my tail lights from northern tool. I put some 2x4s inbetween the frame and the bed to keep it from rattling.
