I hear it's good in the creeks but not worth dealing with the idiots who fight over fishing spots.

I just fished WRC this afternoon at Lawther bridge for the first time and "the bend" was packed.

I end up walking another 100 yards further upstream and found 2 spots with not a single soul in sight. Caught probably over 40 crappies within 3 hours BUT none was of legal size. I did caught 3 that was just shy of 10".

Other than that, was a great afternoon!

I tried upstream in Dec. And didn't get a bite. Of course, I don't have alot of experience yet. But, what is the deal with the bend that makes it so productive. There are other bends that don't have any fish. Is it just that couple of feet deeper that the fish gather there?

This is why the crappie are hard to catch right now. Happens every year. When the shad show up this thick, it's hard to trick a crappie to eat a jig when you have shad all over the place.

Excellent Explaination Tfly.Natural bait or Artificial bait? They will take the Natural every time especially if it`s plentiful and they don`t have to work hard to get it.

Very true! Those spots will clear up after the game warden shows up. A lot of these idiots hide their undersized fish in bags stashed up in the bushes.

Just recently the game warden shows up and there's 3 individuals with a stringer of undersized fish, several poles and tackle box and nobody is willing to claim them. The game warden takes the fish and equipment! You should have seen the look on their dumba$$ faces!

Went the for several hours on Feb.6 and only 5 people were there. It was a good time to scout around. During my walk through the woods I noticed some ticks on my jeans, so everyone be careful! Only saw 3 fish caught, 1 big yellow bass and 2 gizzard shad.

I got skunked there and when I left there my tackle bag was a lot lighter!!!

Ticks in winter? That's not a good sign, is it? We need a good freeze...

Now is the time to roam the creek from the bridge to Greenville in search of the big schools of magnum sandies. Or is it?

At what point will they migrate back to the lake? There's still threadfin shad in the creek and big gizzard shad thats well over a pound.
